Jon Jones opens up about his time off, his beef with Daniel Cormier, sex pills and much more
Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones spoke to the media today in Buffalo, New York where he discussed a number of different topics including how his life has been over the past year without fighting in the UFC.
“The time off has been great. I think you don’t really appreciate what you have until you don’t have it anymore. So this last year has given me a lot of time to just realize how great my life was and how bad I want it back. So yea, I have spent a lot of time with my family and just training. I have been doing a whole bunch of jiu jitsu and wrestling. I feel great. Well preserved and well rested. I’m ready to get back to kicking ass.”
Jones was asked if he expects to be given a title shot when he returns to the octagon, which could possibly take place this July.
“I have no expectations right now. I haven’t really spoken to the UFC about any possible fights or match-ups. I’m just doing my part by being ready to go.”
Jones confirmed that he will be in attendance at UFC 210 and detailed his feelings about watching two men fight for a belt which he never really lost.
“I will be there Saturday night. I haven’t really thought about how I will feel. I am sure I will be pumped up. I will probably just be majorly motivated and inspired to get back in the gym and get back what is mine.”
Jones was then asked if he had heard Daniel Cormier’s warning to not step into the octagon on Saturday night.
“I heard about it. I haven’t seen it for myself. I think he said something like if I came into the octagon it wouldn’t be pretty or something like that. I should just see what he meant by that and go in there. But really, I have no intentions of going in there and harassing the guy. I want him to enjoy his moment. His last moments with the belt.”
Jon believes that everything happens for a reason and is eager to showcase some of his new MMA skills in future bouts against strikers like Anthony Johnson or Jimi Manuwa.
“No, I think everything happens for a reason. I have worked extensively on my wrestling and my jiu jitsu. Sooner or later I am going to be fighting Anthony Johnson or Jimi Manuwa. Two guys who are phenomenal strikers. I’m sure I can strike with the best of them. But the smart strategy in those kind of fights would be to get those guys to the ground and put them in a world of hurt. There is no secret that when those fights happen, that will be my strategy.”
Jones stated that he has been dedicating most of his time to BJJ and that it will show when he returns to the cage.
“I believe I will be submitting the shit out of a lot of different people.”
As for sex pills, which caused Jones to get flagged by USADA previously, “Bones” had the following to say.
“I highly recommend it guys. It’s awesome!”
