Jon Jones predicts outcome of Daniel Cormier vs. Anthony Johnson

UFC light heavyweight kingpin Daniel Cormier is currently gearing up for what he hopes will be his second successful title defense when he steps into the Octagon in the main event of UFC 206 in Toronto on December 10th against heavy-handed light heavyweight Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson.

This won’t be the first time the pair have collided in the Octagon. After pound for pound kingpin Jon Jones was involved in a hit-and-run car accident in April of 2015, the UFC pulled Jones from his scheduled title defense against Anthony Johnson before stripping Jones of the light heavyweight championship and having Daniel Cormier fight Johnson for the vacant light heavyweight championship.

When the pair met inside the Octagon, Cormier’s wrestling proved to be the x-factor as he wore Johnson out before ultimately submitting him in the third round.

Following the fight, Johnson bounced back by going on a 3-fight win streak that saw him KO Jimi Manuwa, Ryan Bader, and most recently Glover Teixeira in just 13 seconds at UFC 202.

Now, ahead of the pair’s highly anticipated rematch, Jon Jones has delivered his pick for who he thinks will leave Toronto with the light heavyweight strap.

That prompted a response from the light heavyweight champion, who has had a heated rivalry with Jones for several years now:

Jones and Cormier were slated to have their highly anticipated rematch earlier this year at UFC 200 in July, however Jones was pulled from the fight just 48 hours before the pair were set to step into the Octagon due to a potential random out-of-competition drug test back in June.

Since then, Jones has been going through the USADA appeal process, which is reportedly going well according to UFC President Dana White, who has stated that Jones could very well be in the Octagon sooner rather than later.

In addition, Jones’ team has announced that they believe they have discovered the contaminated substance which caused Jones’ failed drug test.
