Jon Jones promises “you’ve never seen anything like what’s coming”
Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones continues to tease his long-awaited return to the cage. Though his return is not set in stone just yet, he assures that, when he does make his comeback, he’ll be better than ever. Considering he’s widely considered one of the greatest fighters of all time, that’s definitely saying something.
Every part of the journey matters. Triumphs and setbacks all combine to make the climb what it is supposed to be. My feet are dug in and I have clear motivation as to what I’m going after and why. I promise you’ve never seen anything like what’s coming #comebackseason

“Every part of the journey matters,” Jones said on Twitter. “Triumphs and setbacks all combine to make the climb what it is supposed to be. My feet are dug in and I have clear motivation as to what I’m going after and why. I promise you’ve never seen anything like what’s coming.”
This comment from Jon Jones is in keeping with some recent comments from his striking coach Brandon Gibson, who hinted that the former champion is adding one-punch KO power to his already extensive arsenal.
“I think there’s still a lot of growth possible [for Jon Jones],” Gibson said on a recent episode of The MMA Hour. “Jon’s in his 30s now, I think he’s really starting to develop the one-strike knockout power, we saw that in the last [Daniel Cormier] fight. Before that, Jon was like a break ‘em down, break ‘em down, break ‘em down, finish, where guys were never just out cold, unconscious. I think now Jon’s really developing a lot of power for 205 and he’s gonna really start putting guys to sleep.”
Jones is currently awaiting sentencing from the United States Anti-Doping Agency, having failed a drug test shortly after his July, 2017 fight with Daniel Cormier. While the jury is still out in that sentencing, his manager Malki Kawa is optimistic a decision will be made soon.
“I’m very confident we will have a decision on this thing by the end of this month,” Kawa said on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show last month. “They’re pushing hard. I know everyone involved is working hard to come to a resolution. I know that the UFC is anxiously waiting and we’re dealing with USADA on a daily basis. They’ve been really good with us as far as really investigating this thing and looking at it from a lot of different angles and stuff.”
Whatever the case, Jon Jones seems to think he’ll be better than ever when he returns to the cage. Do you believe him?
