Jon Jones Responds to Miesha Tate After Losing Her as a Fan

We are finally nearing the end of this next rough chapter in the epic tale of Jon Jones. After his hearing on Tuesday, the California State Athletic commission revoked his license and fined him $205K. He can re-apply for his license as early as August this year, but USADA still has to deal out a suspension on the GOAT candidate. For some fans, like former UFC bantamweight champion Miesha Tate who spoke about her feelings yesterday, this last set-back was the last straw. Jones has since responded on social media.

Jon Jones

“If [Jon Jones] gets the book thrown at him and he really does make those changes, maybe he has a chance at restoring [his legacy], but at this point I just don’t care anymore. I don’t care. I’m over Jon Jones. I’m done with it. […] Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times, I mean, come on, am I waiting for a fourth now? I just don’t — I’m over it. I wish and I hope that it does change Jon Jones, but I’m also not invested in Jon Jones anymore. I guess it’s what it is. I’m kind of checked out at this point. It’s just been too many times, too many instances.” — Miesha Tate speaking on the MMA on SirusXM radio show.

Since it is plastered as text on the internet with no inflection, it’s hard to tell whether this is a subtle shade dig on Miesha Tate leaving the sport, or a classy statement from the former light heavyweight champ. Either way, Jones has never been too shy with saying what he means, so it’s safe to assume this is genuine. Unfortunately, he’ll be looking to win more than just Tate back. No question he’ll be able to do just that, it’s just a matter of when now.
