In the main event of UFC 197, Jon Jones defeated Ovince Saint Preux to claim the interim UFC light heavyweight championship. While Jones seemed extremely gun-shy throughout the fight, he explained post-fight that the late change of opponents threw him off, and he would look better when he fought Daniel Cormier. While Jones stated that he felt like he could go another 5 rounds after the fight, corner-cam audio captured his head coach, Greg Jackson, criticizing Jones’ power-lifting regimen after round 5.

Jon Jones returned to the octagon this past Saturday in Las Vegas, where he scored a unanimous decision victory over Ovince Saint Preux in the main event of UFC 197, capturing the promotions interim light heavyweight title in the process. “Bones” five-round decision victory over “OSP” was not what some fans and analysts had expected.

Jon “Bones” Jones became the UFC’s interim light heavyweight champion Saturday night in Las Vegas after earning a unanimous decision victory over Ovince Saint Preux in the evening’s main event. Jones was able to control the fight with “OSP” for the entire five-rounds, however many fans and analysts were not overly impressed with Jon’s performance.

In the main event Jon Jones picked up a unanimous decision win over Ovince Saint Preux to claim the interim UFC light heavyweight championship. With tonight’s win, Jones will now fight Daniel Cormier for the undisputed UFC light heavyweight championship in a highly anticipated rematch. The rematch could very well take place at UFC 200 depending on how quick Cormier’s leg heals.

In the main event of UFC 197, Jon Jones made a successful return to the Octagon and defeated Ovince Saint Preux to claim the interim UFC light heavyweight championship. With Jones’ interim light heavyweight title win, Jones will now face Daniel Cormier for the undisputed light heavyweight championship. After it was announced earlier this week that Conor McGregor would no longer be fighting Nate Diaz in the main event of UFC 200, Jones vs. DC II was mentioned as a possible main event for UFC 200 if Jones defeated OSP at UFC 197 and came out of the fight unscathed.

In the main event of UFC 197, Jon Jones and Ovince Saint Preux fought for 5 rounds to a decision. Jones, who wasn’t happy with his performance, was ultimately crowned the interim UFC light heavyweight champion, and will now face Daniel Cormier for the undisputed UFC light heavyweight championship.

The UFC has been left in a bit of a scramble after Conor McGregor announced his retirement, un-retired, and was pulled from his UFC 200 welterweight main event scrap with Nate Diaz. While Nate Diaz was supposed to fly to Vegas to discuss new opponents for the fight, a report emerged Friday morning that Diaz had now been pulled from the card for unknown reasons. A new report has now emerged from LayzieTheSavage which indicates that the UFC could be looking to book Jones-Cormier II sooner rather than later if Jones defeats Ovince Saint Preux this Saturday at UFC 197.

After retiring from MMA and being pulled from UFC 200 for refusing to fulfill his media obligations on Tuesday, UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor finally released a statement regarding the situation. McGregor explained that the issue between himself and the UFC was a result of him not wanting to take away from his training by doing another world tour. Ultimately, McGregor left the decision of whether or not he will fight in the UFC’s hands, offering to do media obligations, but not another world tour at the expense of his training.

Before Jones was even re-instated by the UFC, he moved to Albuquerque New Mexico to train full time and live a healthier lifestyle. Jones spent a day with USA Today Sports back in March after it was announced that he would fight Ovince Saint Preux for the interim light heavyweight championship at UFC 197, rather than have a rematch with Daniel Cormier for the UFC light heavyweight championship.
