USADA looking into potentially tainted supplement in Jon Jones case

With just two days to go until UFC 200, UFC pound for pound kingpin Jon Jones was pulled from the event due to a potential USADA anti-doping violation. The following morning, Jones and his manager held a press conference, where they addressed the situation to media members. Throughout the course of the presser Jones was adamant that he didn’t knowingly take any banned substances, and that he would be found innocent.

Since then, the former champ has continued to defend himself via social media, telling fans that they shouldn’t write him off just yet. Wednesday afternoon, Jones’ manager Malki Kawa spoke on Chael Sonnen’s “You’re Welcome!” podcast to discuss the situation, and reveal some interesting details:

“We believe we’ve identified the actual supplement he’s taken, the substance that he’s taken, the supplement, the pill, whatever it was that he took. And we’re having it tested.”

“And if our suspicions are correct, we’re going to come out with it and say, ‘here you go.'”

“We’ve already sent our samples to USADA and USADA I think has already purchased the products from the manufacturer directly to verify if what we’re thinking is accurate.”

“And if that’s the case, the obviously we’re going to have a case to present – that there was no intention to cheat. Whether it was Clomid or Letrozole or whatever it is that these substances are.”
