Jorge Masvidal has a message for Dana White following UFC 211 booking
When Jorge Masvidal stepped onto the canvas with Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone in January, he was counted out by a good portion of the fight game. Cowboy, after all, had scored violent finishes in his first four fights as a welterweight, and had a good deal of momentum on his side as a result.
In the end, Masvidal would dominate this fight, nearly finishing Cowboy in the first, and putting him away for good in the second.
In the moments after this career-changing knockout win, Masvidal began calling for another big fight, betting UFC President Dana White a whopping $200,000 that he could not find an opponent that could beat him. For the next few weeks, it did not look like White would be taking this bet, as Masvidal campaigned ceaselessly for bouts with Demian Maia, Neil Magny, Georges St-Pierre and Nick Diaz, but no booking materialized. Earlier this week, however, we learned that Masvidal had gotten his wish, has he has been booked for a UFC 211 showdown with Maia – and don’t think he’s forgotten his wager with White.
On Tuesday night, the rising welterweight took to Twitter to remind White of this bet, and assure him that he plans to collect if he beats Maia at UFC 211.

“Don’t think I won’t collect on your ass [Dana White],” he said.
With his knockout of Cowboy, Masvidal extended his welterweight win-streak to three, as he has also recently defeated Jake Ellenberger and a beefed up Ross Pearson. Maia, meanwhile, is on a six-fight streak, highlighted by submissions of Carlos Condit, Matt Brown and Neil Magny, and decisions over Gunnar Nelson, Ryan LaFlare, and Alexander Yakovlev.
Masvidal and Maia’s fight joins a heavyweight title fight between Stipe Miocic and Junior Dos Santos, a strawweight title fight between Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Jessica Andrade, and a heavyweight contender bout between Fabricio Werdum and Ben Rothwell on the UFC 211 bill. The card goes down on May 13 in Dallas, Texas.
