Jorge Masvidal still has $200,000 sitting aside for a bet with Dana White
“Dana White, bring me somebody that can beat me. I got $200K. You can’t find nobody that can beat me.”
That is the challenge Jorge Masvidal threw out to UFC President Dana White during his post-fight Octagon interview following his big win over Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone at UFC on FOX 23 back in January.
“I know $200,000 isn’t much to Dana, but to me, I’m a working man, and $200,000 is a lot,” Masvidal said during the UFC on FOX 23 post-fight press conference. “I was trying to tell him there’s nobody you can find that can beat me. I’m so confident I’ll put $200,00 of my own money [on the fight].”
When matched up against current #3 UFC ranked welterweight Demian Maia for UFC 211, Masvidal once again offered White to take the bet. White hasn’t accepted the offer, but “Gamebred” still has the $200K sitting on the side for White if he is game.
“I wish it was in play for this, man,” Masvidal said on Submission Radio recently. “I wish, man. We reached out to him, it was no comment. It was like, ‘Ah you know, just fight this guy,’ and then there was no implications of a bet. So I mean, I don’t think any bet will be made, but I still got the money. The money’s there, it’s on hold. If Dana calls me tomorrow and he goes, ‘Hey, you know what, I’m gonna take you up on that bet, I think Maia’s got your number,’ that money’s going into an escrow account and then the winner the will take the money.”
If you were to bet on this fight between Jorge Masvidal and Demian Maia, who would you put your money on? Is Dana White making a good call by not taking this bet? Let’s hear it in the comment section!
