Jorge Masvidal believes Jake Paul was trolling with big-money fight offers

Adam D Martin - October 25, 2021

UFC welterweight superstar Jorge Masvidal believes that YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul was trolling with his big-money fight offers. Masvidal is set to step back into the Octagon at UFC 269 on December 11 when he takes on rival Leon Edwards. It’s the first fight for Masvidal since April when he lost via KO to UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. Even though he lost that fight, Masvidal remains one of the biggest stars in the sport of MMA today and so he became a natural target for Paul when he was busy calling out MMA fighters. According to Paul, he was willing to pay Masvidal upwards of $50 million to fight him, but Masvidal doesn’t buy it.

According to Edwards, the UFC has told him that if he wins the fight, he will be given the next title shot at 170lbs. Speaking on his YouTube channel, one of Edwards’ fellow Brits in Bisping broke down the fight with Masvidal. As far as Bisping goes, this is a very difficult fight to predict, but he does think Edwards holds several advantages.

Gilbert Burns trashes "coward" Leon Edwards for reportedly turning down Jorge Masvidal fight

Adam Martin - October 10, 2021

UFC welterweight contender Gilbert Burns trashed “coward” Leon Edwards for reportedly turning down the Jorge Masvidal fight. Edwards and Masvidal got into it a few years ago at a UFC London event, where Masvidal struck Edwards backstage with his “three-piece and a soda” combo. Masvidal became a superstar following that incident and ended up fighting for the belt twice against Kamaru Usman, while Edwards has been fairly inactive since then. It’s now two years later, and these are still two of the best welterweights on the planet. With both Edwards and Masvidal currently without an upcoming fight, it does make sense for them to fight each other.

Adam D Martin - October 3, 2021

Jorge Masvidal responded after Leon Edwards accused him of turning down a UFC fight: “I fought for the belt twice. Why would I fight you?” Masvidal has not fought since being knocked out by UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman at UFC 261 back in April. Following that fight, Masvidal has been connected to matchups against the likes of fellow welterweight contenders in Edwards and Gilbert Burns, but so far, he has not been booked for a fight. And if you ask Masvidal, when he does eventually step back into the Octagon, he won’t be fighting against Edwards next.

Dana White explains why Jake Paul should fight Anderson Silva next, not Jorge Masvidal

Adam D Martin - September 17, 2021

UFC president Dana White explained why YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul should fight Anderson Silva next, and not Jorge Masvidal. White and Paul have not seen eye to eye, especially in regards to the topic of fighter pay, as Paul has said numerous negative comments to White regarding what he pays UFC fighters. After recently beating former UFC champion Tyron Woodley, Paul is now busy trying to figure out who his next opponent will be. He recently came out and called out Masvidal for a fight, but White blocked that opportunity since “Gamebred” is under contract with the UFC. Instead, White suggested that Paul take on the UFC legend Silva instead.

Adam D Martin - September 16, 2021

UFC welterweight contender Gilbert Burns accused Leon Edwards of ducking Jorge Masvidal, telling him on social media that “you are scared!” Edwards took to his Twitter this week to announce that he will not fight Masvidal next, and instead, he confirmed that he will wait to fight the winner of UFC 268’s main event welterweight title fight rematch between Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington. That is leaving a bitter taste in the mouth of one of the division’s top contenders in Burns. The Brazilian took to his social media following Edwards’ proclamation that he will not fight Masvidal to suggest that the Brit is scared of facing “Gamebred” inside the Octagon.
