Jake Shields is not happy with how the UFC 244 main event ended. Shields, a longtime teammate of Nate Diaz, was in New York City to support his training partner in his UFC 244 fight with Jorge Masvidal. Masvidal ended up winning this fight due to a cut on Diaz’s brow.

In the aftermath of the UFC 244 main event, it would seem that you would want to be anyone else besides the doctor who called a stop to Saturday’s BMF Title fight. Dr. Nitin K. Sethi, a New York-based neurologist, was the cage side physician called into the Octagon after the third round of the bout between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz at Madison Square Garden on Saturday evening. Diaz had suffered a pair of cuts around his right eye, including a highly visible one above the eye. Sethi and Diaz conversed with the fighter saying, as expected, that he was OK. Sethi would then head over to referee Dan Miragliotta and made the decision to stop the fight, which lead to a third-round TKO win for Masvidal.

After Jorge Masvidal beat Nate Diaz at UFC 244, he had an interesting callout at the post-fight press conference in the form of boxing champion Canelo Alvarez. He said it is a fight he wants. On, Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show, Masvidal backed those claims even more.

UFC bantamweight and color commentator Dominick Cruz understands why some are taking issue with the Jorge Masvidal vs. Nate Diaz stoppage. This past Saturday night, Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz shared the Octagon in the main event of UFC 244. The action was held inside Madison Square Garden in New York City. Masvidal looked solid throughout the first three rounds, but many were waiting to see if Diaz would begin to turn the tide in the championship rounds. It wasn’t meant to be as the Octagon-side doctor stopped the fight after Nate Diaz suffered deep cuts on his eyebrow and under his eye.

Betting odds have been released for a potential welterweight rematch between UFC 244 headliners Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz. The fight ended in controversial fashion when the cage-side doctor stopped the fight after the third round due to cuts above Diaz’s right eye. Masvidal was awarded the victory via TKO due to doctor stoppage, but few people were happy with the way the fight ended. With Diaz being known for his excellent cardio, many fans and media wondered what would have happened had the fight entered the fourth and fifth rounds, but it was stopped instead.

Masvidal’s star rose even further over the weekend as he defeated Nate Diaz via doctor stoppage to win the aforementioned BMF Championship. “Gamebred” has had a phenomenal year in 2019, with this special title win coming after his two knockout victories over Darren Till and Ben Askren.

Conor McGregor appears to have called out Jorge Masvidal following last night’s UFC 244 event. In the main event of UFC 244, Masvidal defeated Nate Diaz, a former foe of the Irishman to win the BMF title. Yet, McGregor was not a fan of the fight and the way the fighters acted in the lead up to last night’s bout. Following Masvidal’s win, McGregor took to social media to request a three-piece and a soda.

The fight was eventually stopped at the end of the third round by the doctor, due to cuts above Diaz’ eye. The early stoppage put a dampener on an otherwise explosive fight that was edging towards a five-round showdown.

UFC president Dana White shared a picture of Nate Diaz after receiving stitches following the cuts inflicted by Jorge Masvidal in the main event of UFC 244. Diaz was cut above and below his right eye, leading to the cage-side doctor to controversially calling an end to the BMF title fight at UFC 244. The cuts didn’t look to be fight ending for those watching on television, but as you can see from the picture below, Diaz suffered quite a bit of damage during the fight. Although he disagreed with the stoppage at the time, following the event White said the doctor made the right call.

UFC president Dana White said that Nate Diaz won’t get an immediate rematch against Jorge Masvidal after their fight at UFC 244 ended in controversial fashion. Speaking to reporters following UFC 244, White said an immediate rematch will not be in order between Diaz and Masvidal.
