The first, Taylor reported, is expected to pit former UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler against ever-dangerous karate stylist Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson. The other is expected to pit recent UFC welterweight title challenger Darren Till against former ONE and Bellator welterweight champion Ben Askren, who recently signed with the UFC.

Tom Taylor - November 4, 2018

Report | Jorge Masvidal offered fight with Nick Diaz

Drake Riggs - October 24, 2018

It’s been a while since we’ve seen Jorge Masvidal and Nick Diaz competing inside the Octagon…could we see them return at the same time? Knowing both of the Diaz brothers, that’s probably a pretty unlikely fight to take. Low reward with high risk doesn’t seem like the kind of fights that Stockton’s finest have interest in these days but we never know.

EXCLUSIVE | Jorge Masvidal vows to restore law and order in the UFC

Tom Taylor - October 16, 2018

UFC welterweight contender Jorge Masvidal is tired of all the drama. Ahead of his long-awaited return to action, which he’s hoping will occur at UFC 232 on December 29, he’s determined to usher in a new era of no-nonsense fighting. “I’m looking like I need to restore order in this sport, is what I’m gonna do,” Jorge Masvidal said on episode 101 of BJPENN.COM Radio. “Law and order. That’s what I’m telling you. I’m here to bring down the law and order. Good old fashioned ass whippings. No guns, no fucking Twitter wars, just these fists up your fucking nostrils. Just ass whooping. Good old fashion ass whooping, and I’m gonna bring a whole new community of people in there that are gonna appreciate that. They’re not gonna care so much for the talking. They’re just gonna wanna see people being violent with an art form to it.”

EXCLUSIVE | Jorge Masvidal on short-notice Nate Diaz fight: 'It would've been two fighting dogs just throwing down'

Tom Taylor - October 15, 2018

When Dustin Poirier was forced out of his UFC 230 lightweight showdown with Nate Diaz, Jorge Masvidal offered to step in and fight Diaz in his place. Although Masvidal had just wrapped up a reality television stint, he felt confident that he was in good enough shape to fight. He just needed Diaz to agree to fight at 170 pounds, rather than 155. Unfortunately, this veritable dream matchup never came to fruition. Even though it was clearly a fight that most fans were drooling over, the UFC instead pulled Diaz from the UFC 230 lineup altogether.

Unable to find a willing opponent, Jorge Masvidal is headed to reality television

Tom Taylor - July 13, 2018

UFC welterweight contender Jorge Masvidal has been looking for a fight. Over the last few weeks, he’s issued repeated callouts of Neil Magny and Kamaru Usman, and answered the callout of surging British contender Leon Edwards. “If [Edwards] is the biggest ranked guy I can get my hands on than that’s who it is,” Masvidal said on a recent episode of BJPENN.COM Radio. “Doesn’t really matter. If they were to offer me a number 5 dude, number 4 dude, of course I’m gonna say yes to that over Leon.”

Jorge Masvidal responds to Leon Edwards' call-out

Tom Taylor - June 23, 2018

Shortly after his impressive decision defeat of Donald Cerrone — inarguably the best win of his career thus far — British welterweight contender Leon Edwards called for a fight with Jorge Masvidal. His hope, he said, is that the fight would occur in his native Birmingham. “At the time, he was No. 6 in the rankings and I was going down in the rankings and everyone else was matched up, so why not take out another old gun?” Edwards said, explaining why he called out Masvidal. “Masvidal, he’s been around again, a long time, so why not go in there and take him out?

Jorge Masvidal and Neil Magny get heated over potential short-notice bout

Tom Taylor - May 3, 2018

When Gunnar Nelson was forced out of his UFC Liverpool co-main event showdown with Neil Magny, sixth-ranked UFC welterweight Jorge Masvidal offered to step in and replace him. He only asked that this short-notice bout with Magny be contested at a 180-pound catchweight, as he wouldn’t be able to make the welterweight division’s 170-pound limit in time for the card. “My manager told me about [Nelson’s withdrawal,] and he was like ‘hey man, here’s your chance to smash Magny,’ cause he knows I don’t like Magny one bit,” Masvidal told BJPenn.com’s Jason Kindschy on Tuesday. “So he offered it to me, and he was like ‘what do you think?’ We’ll make it at a catchweight, cause I’m a little heavier right now.”
