Gilbert Burns has taken a shot at Jorge Masvidal. Burns and Masvidal have been eyeing one another and it seemed as though the pair were on a collision course. Masvidal even went as far as to say that he would be willing to go to Brazil in January to face Burns.

UFC welterweight contender Gilbert Burns still has his sights set on Jorge Masvidal. ‘Durinho’ has been out of action since his showdown with Khamzat Chimaev in April. On that outing, both men went back and forth for 15 minutes. At the end of the ‘Fight of the Year’ contender, ‘Borz’ claimed the win by unanimous decision.

At the time, Askren was 1-0 in the UFC and was undefeated in his career. It was just months after his trade to the promotion, and he was looking to make a splash against the resurging Masvidal.

Jorge Masvidal has issued a response to Leon Edwards suggesting he should beg for a UFC Welterweight Championship opportunity. Masvidal and Edwards have a history of bad blood. Fight fans haven’t forgotten a backstage incident between the two after a UFC London event back in 2019. After words were exchanged, Masvidal approached Edwards and punched him in the face, leaving a cut under his eye.

Masvidal (35-16 MMA) and Diaz (22-13 MMA) of course previously met in the main event of UFC 244 in 2019, with the promotions one-off BMF title up for grabs. The result was a third round TKO victory for ‘Gamebred’, this after the cage-side doctor stopped the contest due to lacerations on the face of the Stockton native.

Over the course of the last few years, Jorge Masvidal hasn’t quite enjoyed the success he did upon breaking out into the mainstream in 2019.
