Dana White isn’t ruling out immediate rematch for Jose Aldo
Following his 13 second KO loss to Conor McGregor, there was much speculation as to what would be next for former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo.
McGregor booked a lightweight scrap at UFC 196 against Rafael dos Anjos for the lightweight championship. In the mean time, Jose Aldo campaigned for an immediate rematch, stating that he didn’t care if the featherweight belt was on the line or not.
UFC President Dana White pointed out that the first time the UFC booked Aldo vs. McGregor at UFC 189, Aldo backed out of the fight, and then ended up losing in 13 seconds at UFC 194.
Despite that White stated he would be talking to Aldo this Wednesday to discuss what his next fight would be, and while Frankie Edgar was promised the next featherweight title shot after his win over Chad Mendes, White hasn’t ruled out an immediate rematch for Aldo.
He spoke to ESPN Brazil:
“I love Jose (Aldo). I’ll call him today (Wednesday) and we’ll talk to decide who’s next for him,”
When asked if the conversation was about a rematch with McGregor, White said “Yes.”
