Jose Aldo still despises Conor McGregor and has an interesting prediction of his own

By Russell Ess - February 18, 2016

Former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo has not had any good things to say about Conor McGregor since losing to him at UFC 194 back in December. While McGregor took just 13-seconds to bring Aldo’s dreams and records to a screeching halt, the Brazilian still does not have any respect for “The Notorious” and told media in Rio de Janeiro that he doesn’t see his glory lasting much longer.

“I think it’s tough,” Aldo said when asked if he thinks McGregor can beat dos Anjos and go after the welterweight title next (transcribed by MMA Fighting). “And I’ll say this: I don’t think he will have any belt by the end of the year. And everyone will forget him. He has this dream, this goal, but you can be sure that he won’t have any (belt) by the end of the year.”

“A fight is a fight and you have to respect the other side,” Aldo added, “but I see Rafael with the (lightweight) belt and the (featherweight) belt back to me. That’s a fact.”

McGregor is set to face Rafael dos Anjos for the UFC lightweight belt at UFC 196 on March 5, and has a chance to make history and become the first fighter in UFC history to simultaneously hold two different weight division’s titles. Aldo is rooting for his fellow countryman to come out victorious against the highly outspoken Irish fighter.

“I expect a win from dos Anjos,” said the Nova Uniao fighter. “I’m a patriot Brazilian and I will always root for a Brazilian no matter what. I will root for him. I wish him all the luck, I hope he wins.”
