Jose Aldo’s coach questions frequency of Conor McGregor’s drug testing
The US Anti Doping agency has been testing UFC fighters for over a year now. Over the course of the first year of testing, UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor was tied for the most tested athlete.
With that being said, Nova Uniao head coach Andre Pederneiras doesn’t think it’s enough. Ahead of Jose Aldo’s potential rematch with Conor McGregor for the undisputed featherweight championship, Pederneiras tried to arrange testing 3 times a week for both men, however USADA rejected the idea.
In an interview with Combate, Pederneiras questioned the frequency of McGregor’s tests:
“Conor went two months and two days without being tested before the fight with Aldo,” claimed Pedrneiras, “and I was asking, asking, and asking but nothing was done.”
“I’m telling and challenging his trainer – test Conor seriously, I want to see if he makes weight.”
“I can’t accuse anyone without having certainty. It would be frivolous to accuse someone without being certain. But, at the very least, it’s strange.”
