Max Holloway to Jose Aldo: Get your ass in the cage

Interim UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo has stirred up a bit of controversy recently as he has continued his very public war of words with the UFC brass. After it was announced that Conor McGregor would be moving up to lightweight to challenge Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight strap at UFC 205 on November 12th, Aldo quickly requested his release from the promotion.

UFC President Dana White was quick to deny Aldo’s request, stating that the promotion would be happy to get the interim champ fights in the meantime until Conor McGregor either returns to featherweight, or vacates the 145 pound belt. Aldo shot back however, explaining that he wanted to be released so as to retire from MMA and move on to another professional sport completely.

With that being said, Aldo has also stated recently that a meeting with the UFC brass went well, although he still has no intentions to continue fighting at the present time.

That hasn’t sat too well with top ranked contender Max Holloway, who fired back at Aldo in an interview with MMAJunkie Radio, saying:

“I’m a fighter, man; I just want to fight,” Holloway told MMAjunkie Radio. “I don’t care who it is or whatever. I can’t change what they personally feel, but like I said, I got that vaccine for that (expletive)-itis that’s been going around with all these people running away. They got to let me know when they’re ready to fight.”

“In a perfect world, if I could fight Conor, that would be great,” Holloway said. “But the person that’s really got my blood boiling is Jose Aldo. He’s (expletive) talking bubbles. I don’t know what he’s talking. I think Conor hit him too hard in that fight, so he’s losing his mind. That guy’s got to get his (expletive) together, get his ass in the cage and do less talking and more fighting.”

“I respect him, I respect him a lot, but at the end of the day, people keep forgetting how much times he left the UFC high and dry in a main-event slot or a co-main event slot that he was supposed to be because of injuries,” Holloway said. “I know injuries sucks, but it happens more than (expletive) a couple of times, and he had to pull out due to injury or whatever or personal reasons. It is what it is. They remember that kind of stuff.”

Holloway, who is currently ranked at #3 on the UFC’s official featherweight rankings, has been on tear of the division since his 2013 loss to Conor McGregor. Since then, Holloway has gone on to win 9 straight, likely setting himself up for a title fight in the near-future.
