Report: Jose Aldo being targeted for a rematch in December
Russell Ess - September 18, 2017
Jose Aldo has dreamed of fighting in New York at Madison Square Garden and was hoping to get on the UFC 217 card taking place there in November. However, it sounds like the former UFC featherweight champion will have to wait a bit longer for his chance to step into the Octagon or perhaps a ring inside the historic New York venue. Combate has reported that Aldo is being targeted to face a familiar foe in Ricardo Lamas sometime in December. With Aldo campaigning to fight at UFC 217 in New York, Lamas’ asked for a bit more time, according to the report. Combate stated that both fighters verbally agreed to the matchup, which could likely take place on December 2 in Detroit at UFC 218, or December 30 in Las Vegas at UFC 219.
Doo Ho Choi Wants to Return and Fight Jose Aldo
Justin Golightly - September 8, 2017
The MMA gods are about to bless us with violence again. Last year, Doo Ho Choi earned a UFC ‘Fight of the Night’ bonus, as well as ESPN’s ‘Fight of the Year’ award, for his war with Cub Swanson. He lost to the top featherweight contender, but it was his first loss since 2010 and it was to a seriously elite fighter. Choi isn’t slowing down anytime soon, after nursing some injuries he’s ready to return to action and wants Jose Aldo. “I have almost recovered from my injuries and I’m back training. I got a shoulder injury as a result of excessive strength training and I want to apologize firstly to my fans and secondly my opponent, Andre Fili. I think Andre Fili is a great fighter, but I see he has a fight now with another opponent so I’m open to fighting someone else. There are no fighters who I really want to fight, but I want a ranked fighter next. I’m interested in a fight with Jose Aldo and I want to fight him.”
Michael Johnson Says Featherweight Was Always the Plan and Still Wants Aldo
Justin Golightly - September 6, 2017
Back on Friday, Michael Johnson told fans and media at the UFC Rotterdam Q & A that he was going to move to featherweight. If that news wasn’t unexpected enough, he told everyone that the first fight he wants for his debut at the weight was none other than Jose Aldo. He’s opened up more about the move since then and it turns out it was always his plan. Not only that, but this move and potential fight could possibly come before the end of this year. “I was looking toward December, and November got brought up, so we’ll have to see. We’ll have to see everybody’s schedules and see where they can fit me in. [If I can’t fight Jose Aldo, I want] the next toughest guy in line. I think that’s maybe detrimental to my career, maybe hurts it a little bit that I always go for the toughest fight. But my first fight at 145, Aldo is a former champ, he’s one of the best in the world – always been. So, that’s one guy that I would love to fight. I’m not in this sport to fight the guy that’s OK. I want the toughest guy. I want everybody that says he can’t be beat.”
Jose Aldo wants spot on UFC 217, is willing to fight anybody
Tom Taylor - September 3, 2017
Jose Aldo is no longer the UFC featherweight champion, having come up short against Max Holloway in June, but he still wants to stay active. In fact, the former champ is eager to insert himself into the lineup for the stacked UFC 217, which goes down this November 4 inside New York’s Madison Square Garden. “It’s a dream to fight [in New York], especially at Madison Square Garden,” Aldo told the media at his burger restaurant in Rio de Janeiro on Friday (h/t MMAFighting.com). “That’s a dream I have. I grew up watching boxers fighting there, so fighting at this arena is historical for me. I want to be on this [card].”
Jose Aldo Didn't Actually Tweet About Conor McGregor's Loss to Mayweather
Justin Golightly - September 2, 2017
Right after Conor McGregor lost his fight with Floyd Mayweather, everyone had their reactions. The most controversial reaction had to be Jose Aldo. We all know that McGregor knocked the former UFC featherweight champion out in “turteen” seconds, since then Aldo has commented on every step McGregor has made. That’s why no one was surprised when he tweeted a string of “crying laughing” emoji after Conor McGregor suffered a TKO from Mayweather. However, it turns out that Aldo might not have even sent the tweet. Actually, he didn’t even watch the fight. “You know every athlete has people who handle their social media – who work their social media. […] First of all, I didn’t even watch the fight. I was at a football game. It’s a No. 1 sport for me. I’m very passionate about it – Rams and Chargers. So, I didn’t even watch the fight. I don’t know. I have people who take care of my social media. I can’t even talk about what happened, because I didn’t watch the fight. I talked about it a lot. I was surrounded by boxers where I was, and they talked about the fight. But I didn’t watch it myself.”

Justin Golightly - September 1, 2017

Despite only having one win in his last five fights, it’s not like Johnson is a slouch. In his 17 UFC fights at lightweight, he’s beaten the likes of Tony Ferguson, Edson Barboza and Joe Lauzon. However, he thinks this recent run may be corrected with an adjustment, something he just dropped out of left field at a public Q & A. Michael Johnson wants to cut down to featherweight and he isn’t even thinking about a warm-up fight. He challenged none other than Jose Aldo for his 145-pound debut. https://twitter.com/MMA_Jim/status/903647322223112193

Jose Aldo gives his take on McGregor-Malignaggi beef
Tom Taylor - August 7, 2017
In July, we learned that former two-division boxing champ Paulie Malignaggi would be helping UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor prepare for his blockbuster August 26 boxing match with Floyd Mayweather. Unfortunately, things have soured since then, as Malignaggi has abandoned McGregor’s camp, as he feels he’s been portrayed poorly by McGregor and his team. And if you ask Jose Aldo – one of McGregor’s fiercest rivals from the MMA world– that’s no surprise. In Aldo’s opinion, McGregor is simply bad for the sport.

Russell Ess - June 7, 2017
A new undisputed champion was crowned in Brazil over the weekend as Max Holloway continued his impressive winning streak, now riding 11 UFC wins in a row. In round two, Holloway started to find his rhythm and range making things more competitive between the two. Artem Lobov calls for fight with Jose Aldo
Tom Taylor - June 7, 2017
Last weekend, in the main event of UFC 212, once-dominant UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo had his throne usurped by young Hawaiian star Max Holloway, as he wilted under a swarm of third-round punches. With this outcome, Aldo finds himself at a relatively unfamiliar juncture, no longer a champion but a contender in the crowded UFC featherweight division. From here, it’s difficult to say who Aldo should fight next – if he even stays at featherweight. There are of course, plenty of interesting options in that regard.
