Medical Examiner: Josh Samman’s roommate died from “multi-drug toxicity”
Last month, tragic news surfaced that UFC middleweight Josh Samman was found unresponsive in his Florida apartment along with his roommate, MMA announcer Troy Tirkingburg, who was found dead. Samman was taken the the hospital, where he reportedly remained in a coma which trying to recover.
There were no updates immediately given on Samman’s condition, however Samman’s mother released a statement in which she refuted rumors that there was heroin found in her son’s system.
Her statement read:
“Josh is still in a coma, and more tests are being done. That is the latest update on my son’s condition. And in spite of speculation, there was no heroin found in Josh’s system whatsoever. No matter what people are posting on social media. The reason I am making this statement is, because Josh touched so many lives, and loved inspiring others, especially young people. I don’t want them to lose faith in him, and whatever he brought out in them, because of the lies. He would want them to ‘never give up.’”
Unfortunately, Samman passed away just several days after initially being found unresponsive.
Now, according to TMZ, who spoke to the medical examiner who performed the autopsy on Kirkingburg, Kirkingburg passed away from what is being called “multi-drug toxicity” due to a combination of xanax, cocaine, heroin, and alcohol.
While there was no autopsy performed on Samman due to the fact that he remained in a coma for several days after hospitalization, the medial examiner gave the following information to TMZ regarding Samman’s cause of death:
“We do not have any specimen on Mr. Samman due to the length of his hospitalization.”
“His cause of death is probable drug overdose based on the circumstances and hospital drug screen that was positive for drugs, but we could not confirm this as they only hold specimens for three days.”
