Report: Josh Samman passes away after being in coma
Wednesday morning the MMA community was hit with a tragic development regarding UFC middleweight Josh Samman, who has been in a coma since being found unresponsive in a Florida apartment last month.
While there has still been no word as to why Samman was found unresponsive, and another man with him was found dead, Samman’s mother recently released an update on her son, in which she refuted claims that there was heroin involved.
Despite that, Samman’s mother gave no insight into what the cause of the situation was, however she did urge fans to continue to send good thoughts her son’s way as he remained in a coma.
Wednesday morning, a tragic update surface from Samman’s fellow ‘Ultimate Fighter: Team Jones vs Team Sonnen’ alum Gilbert Smith, who revealed in an Instagram post that Samman passed away.
Samman competed in Season 17 of The Ultimate Fighter where he was defeated by Kelvin Gastelum in the semi-finals of the season. On the TUF Finale card, Samman defeated Kevin Casey via TKO in the 2nd round. After taking some time off from the Octagon due to his girlfriend’s unfortunate death, Samman returned to the Octagon and delivered a highlight reel knockout as he finished Eddie Gordon with a head kick in the second round. Following that, Samman submitted Caio Magalhaes in the 1st round, earning himself a ‘Performance of the Night’ bonus. Recently however, Samman was in the midst of a 2-fight losing streak that saw him drop losses to Tamdan McCrory and Tim Boetsch.
Stay tuned for updates as they become available.
