Justin Gaethje Promises to Make Fight with Eddie Alvarez a Justin Gaethje Fight
There isn’t a way to oversell a Justin Gaethje fight. There’s always a chance that an exciting fighter is involved with a ‘boring’ fight. From Anderson Silva to Wanderlei Silva, every fighter seems to inevitably wind up in a slow fight.
Except for Justin Gaethje, of 18 fights, six of which were for titles, 16 of Gaethje fights have been finished. Add in the fact that he’s undefeated, and its easy to see why a Justin Gaethje fight is one worth watching.
Fortunately, Gaethje fights in just a few days at UFC 218 on the second fight of the PPV portion of the card. His opponent is a man who is hand-picked to match Gaethje’s aggressive and ferocious stylings. That man is former Bellator and UFC lightweight champion, Eddie Alvarez.
While Alvarez is an incredibly skilled fighter with the ability to compose himself like a tactician during fights, he has a tendency to let loose in fights, a tendency that has made him a fan favorite for the majority of his career.
Adding to the anticipation of an exciting fight between these two is a promise made by Gaethje on his Twitter account on Monday when a a user proposed that Alvarez will attempt to out-point the known finisher:
I’m afraid Eddie will be tactical & try to make it a boring fight…..

For sure. I won’t let it happen

This will be the second UFC fight of the 29-year-old’s career. His first was an absolutely demonstration of his fighting style for those who didn’t follow his career in the World Series of Fighting (now the Professional Fighters League). After being rocked several times against Michael Johnson, Gaethje hung tough, and put Johnson away. It was a tough fight to watch both due to nerves and the amount of punishment that both men were enduring. It was Gaethje, though, who was able to stick it out.
UFC 218 takes place this Saturday night at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan.
