Savage Justin Gaethje Proud to Have Lost to Eddie Alvarez by a Knockout

Justin Golightly - December 14, 2017

18 wins. 15 finishes. No equal for six years. That is, until Justin Gaethje ended up meeting former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez. It was the bloody war that the UFC and those two savages promised us. There was no gold on the line, but the added stipulation of an unofficial violence title up for grabs was taken deadly serious. After a performance full of grit and pure determination, his granite chin finally gave out with a brutal knee. Any other fighter would be kicking himself, but not Justin Gaethje. He’d rather go out like that than lose by a decision any day, which should come at no surprise to anyone. “I’m glad I got knocked out instead of going to a decision and losing because that’s not the way I want to lose. I’m happy with my performance. I feel like I won because I tried so hard. My preparation was there and ultimately I went out and did what I go to do and that’s entertain people and entertain myself really. And I had fun. I did some major damage to [Eddie Alvarez’s] lead leg in that first round. He did a good job of putting his hands on me but definitely didn’t do a lot of damage. He definitely beat me in that second round and in the third round, I thought it was a close fight. If it would have went to the scorecards, I’m sure he would have got it because of the takedown or something and he was a little bit more active with punches but I cause a lot of damage when I do land my strikes and it’s hard to judge that.”

VIDEO | Paul Felder Has Strong Criticisms Over The UFC's Unofficial Most Violent Title

Justin Golightly - December 14, 2017

Eddie Alvarez’s fight with Justin Gaethje came and went and it was everything they said it would be and more. Leading up to the fight, Alvarez created an unofficial title forged in violence that would be up for grabs in their UFC 218 bout. His jaw swollen like it contained a softball, Alvarez captured that invisible belt and put himself back in title contention for the lightweight strap. The brutal and grueling war these two put on, while crowd-pleasing, had Paul Felder looking at things in a completely different way. …These guys are potentially damaging their careers. “That’s the goal, right? Hit and don’t get hit. That’s why I train so hard in camp and I spar and we do everything so specifically because I want to get in there and I want get the job done. […] I’m always prepared for a three-round war, but I’m just not trying to be in them. You’ve got Eddie [Alvarez], who’s trying to be the ‘Most Violent Guy,’ and [Justin] Gaethje, who’s looking for an equal. Go ahead. You guys can go and fight over that. Meanwhile, I’ll silently be knocking everyone out and working my way to the top 10, top five, and sneak right in there and take that title shot from you guys.”

Justin Golightly - December 6, 2017

We are all still catching our breath from UFC 218 as we land in the middle of yet another fight week. That Detroit card is one of those line-ups of fights where you lose your voice from screaming and your legs are sore the next day from jumping on and off the couch reacting to the action. Nothing can compare to the undisputed king of reactions, Joey Diaz though. On Sunday, Diaz took to Periscope to give his reaction to the fight and it didn’t disappoint. You may want to make sure there are no children in the room when you blast this spirited review. “The fights were tremendous last night. I just want to give my f-cking shout out to my man Mr. [Eddie] Alvarez. I didn’t think he could do it, but he f-cking did it. That Jason Strahan [Justin Gaethje] dude is the f-cking – what’s his name? Jason Gadahoop, whatever – He’s a f-cking savage with heart. [Alistair] Overeem? That Magoomba – whatever his name is – Ngaio? Let me tell you something, I don’t even want [Francis Ngannou] blowing out the candles at my birthday party. Next thing you know, the cake is all over the f-cking place, you follow me?”

Pros react to Eddie Alvarez's amazing KO victory over Justin Gaethje

Chris Taylor - December 2, 2017

The pros were quick to react to Eddie Alvarez’s impressive third-round knockout victory over Justin Gaethje. The former lightweight champion, Alvarez, was able to utilize some hard body shots and amazing uppercuts before eventually putting a very game Justin Gaethje away with a knee late in round three.

VIDEO | Justin Gaethje Doesn't Give a Sh-t About Conor McGregor's Plans

Justin Golightly - December 2, 2017

For those who didn’t see Justin Gaethje’s three-year path of destruction through World Series of Fighting, they were exposed to the kind of violence he provides at The Ultimate Fighter 25 Finale. Followers of the agent of chaos were eager to see if Gaethje’s kill-or-be-killed style would hold up against a top-10 UFC lightweight. Everyone knows now – especially Michael Johnson – that it did. Diving deeper into the shark tank, Justin Gaethje will now fight one of the top 155-pound fighters in the world in mere hours. If Gaethje successfully retains his title as UFC’s “Most Violent Fighter” against Eddie Alvarez, it looks like he will be after Tony Ferguson’s interim lightweight belt. “I honestly don’t give a sh-t [about Conor McGegor’s plans] because it does not matter. If I don’t win this fight [against Eddie Alvarez], I’m not even in that picture. So, I’m focusing on Eddie. Can’t hate on Conor for making a sh-t ton of money. Don’t hate him at all. So yeah, if I finish Eddie, I would definitely want to fight Tony [Ferguson for the interim lightweight title].”

VIDEO | UFC Fighters Give Their Picks for Justin Gaethje vs Eddie Alvarez

Justin Golightly - December 2, 2017

The fight between Justin Gaethje and Eddie Alvarez is violence personified. They have even gone as far as to say that the UFC’s “Most Violent” title is on the line. It’s the undefeated, former WSOF lightweight champion fighting the former UFC lightweight champion and last MMA fighter to throw down with Conor McGregor. It’s an absolute feast of chaos for the fans, but it’s also a real fighter’s fight. Who better to break down the crazy scrap than other UFC fighters who seem just as giddy for the match-up as we are courtesy of James Lynch from Fightful.com? “Aw, Justin Gaethje for sure man. That guy is the human highlight reel. He’s fun to watch. I used to wrestle with him in the Pack 10 when he was in Northern Colorado and I was at Oregon State, so I saw him a lot. He’s always been flashy and unorthodox. So, I think Justin Gaethje gets the job done [against Eddie Alvarez] dramatically there.” — Colby Covington.

Justin Gaethje Promises to Make Fight with Eddie Alvarez a Justin Gaethje Fight

Adam Conklin - November 27, 2017

There isn’t a way to oversell a Justin Gaethje fight. There’s always a chance that an exciting fighter is involved with a ‘boring’ fight. From Anderson Silva to Wanderlei Silva, every fighter seems to inevitably wind up in a slow fight.

'Violent Motherf-cker' Justin Gaethje Wants a Title Shot After UFC 218

Justin Golightly - November 22, 2017

Justin Gaethje dropped his World Series of Fighting lightweight title and never looked back, now he’s one fight into the UFC and is immediately within reach of a possible title shot. He lived up to all of his hype by dismantling Michael Johnson in a Fight of the Night and winning Performance of the Night. He’ll look to continue this trend of violence with former UFC lightweight champ Eddie Alvarez at UFC 218. If he finishes the former UFC lightweight champ the way he expects to, then he’ll expect nothing less than an opportunity for a belt. “When I’m done, I’m going to be known as one of the most violent motherf-ckers in the sport. [And] The most entertaining. With that comes money for sure, especially with the UFC because they appreciate that effort. I give them max effort every time I step in there. The belt? I’m working towards that. I feel like I vacated a belt that I defended eight times, so I’m in the process of trying to get the one that I’m fighting for right now. It’s one fight at a time though and now I got to go out there, and it’s all about how you finish nowadays.”

Justin Gaethje explains why he will be avoiding short-notice fights

Tom Taylor - October 16, 2017

Justin Gaethje is one of the most consistently exciting fighters in the sport of MMA. Time and time again, the former World Series of Fighting lightweight champion and current UFC lightweight contender has flaunted his willingness to engage pretty much anybody in a tooth-and-nail brawl, gambling with his very consciousness for our entertainment. Given Gaethje’s propensity for excitement, you might expect him to be the kind of fighter to happily accept short notice fights. Apparently, however, Gaethje is keen to steer clear of short notice fights – even though he admits the temptation to accept them will always be there.

It looks like our forecast has finally been officially confirmed by Mark Henry on Instagram. UFC 218 has quickly become one of the hands-down best cards of the year. Eddie Alvarez thinks the UFC is using him to build up Justin Gaethje

Tom Taylor - October 1, 2017

This December 2, when the UFC touches down in Detroit, Michigan with UFC 218, former UFC and Bellator lightweight champ Eddie Alvarez will battle former World Series of Fighting champ Justin Gaethje in a clear Fight of the Year contender. While it’s undeniable that the UFC put this fight together based on its entertainment value, Alvarez also feels that this fight is an attempt to boost Gaethje’s name – at his own expense. “When UFC wants something, they get it, you know what I mean?” Alvarez said in a recent episode of the UFC Unfiltered podcast (via MMAMania.com). “If they want you to fight, you’re going to fight [who they] want you to fight. There is not much of a negotiation going on there, especially with me.”

Justin Gaethje Told Tony Ferguson He'd 'Break His F-cking Legs'

Justin Golightly - September 30, 2017

Logging onto Twitter usually ends up this way. You log on and everything is all cool, then before you know it, you’re locked in an argument with someone. Just like something we’ve all experienced, Justin Gaethje tweeting out to Tony Ferguson started out pretty tame. Gaethje responded to a tweet of Ferguson’s with a joke about ankle picks. That was a line used by Ferguson on Thursday, after he and UFC heavyweight Fabricio Werdum almost threw down at lunch. It didn’t stop there though, next thing you know is one fighter’s leg is going to get broke and the other is getting their career ended.

EXCLUSIVE | Justin Gaethje and Eddie Alvarez Slated for UFC 218 in Detroit

Justin Golightly - September 14, 2017

Justin Gaethje has peaked the interest of anyone not aware of his World Series of Fighting achievements. His opponent, Eddie Alvarez was known in the game for many years before his gigantic double-title fight with Conor McGregor. Both of the guys are 100% guaranteed exciting fighters, but it’s sure to be a crazy slobberknocker when the two Ultimate Fighter 26 coaches finally clash. It looks like their official date for the fight is going to be at UFC 218. I'm told @Ealvarezfight and @Justin_Gaethje will collide at #UFC218 in Detroit. Would have loved to see them throw down here in Winnipeg 😞

Justin Gaethje Thinks Conor McGregor Gasses Because a Lack of Wrestling

Justin Golightly - September 12, 2017

There’s a new force in the UFC’s lightweight division. As stacked as that weight class is, that’s like adding a piranha into a pool of sharks. Justin Gaethje left his World Series of Fighting lightweight title behind and crashed into the UFC with a huge victory over Michael Johnson, pushing him into the top five in the rankings. He’s excited to get punched in the face by Eddie Alvarez, hoping to lure Conor McGregor into a title shot. Getting past Alvarez is a tall task, but Gaethje will look to exploit what he thinks is McGregor’s weakest point at some point in the future: His cardio. “The reason [Conor McGregor] can’t fight through when he gets super tired is he’s never grappled. You have to learn how to fight through when it sucks and it’s really hard. You have to be in that position over and over and over, to be able to perform in that mindset. The fact that he’s never wrestled or grappled, it doesn’t help when he gets super tired and starts questioning himself.”

You Can't Climb On Top of Vegas Cages Because of Justin Gaethje

Justin Golightly - September 1, 2017

Justin Gaethje is one of the most exciting fighters on this planet, or probably any other. If you weren’t accustomed to his entertaining violence before in World Series of Fighting, you were introduced to him in his ‘Fight of the Year’ contender with Michael Johnson at UFC’s The Ultimate Fighter 25 season finale. Unfortunately, the Nevada State Athletic Commission thinks Gaethje is a little too exciting. His trademark backflip off the cage celebration has been banned. So, you won’t see him doing any acrobatic stunts if he gets a win over Eddie Alvarez. “As a kid, I used to flip off anything. Anything and everything. My mom hated it. One time at the church, I tried to flip off a counter, and it broke and I busted my head open on the floor. I’ve been doing it off everything. I only do it when I get a sweet knockout or a sweet finish. So, I’ve done it a few times after probably eight fights. But, no more in Vegas.”
