Kamaru Usman went under the knife for his hand and Dana White has shared a graphic photo of the procedure. Usman had the surgery to repair a ligament after suffering a broken hand in his UFC 268 fight against Colby Covington. The hope for the welterweight champ is that he will be ready to return at International Fight Week in July, but the process of the surgery was not a pretty sight.

Both men are clearing out their respective divisions and there aren’t many options available but Abdelaziz says Usman will face Leon Edwards next.

Kamaru Usman is the UFC’s No.1-ranked pound-for-pound fighter. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ has revealed that he was more than willing to defend that rank in 2020, and move up in weight. Usman was willing to move up 35 pounds, in fact. In a recent interview with GQ, Usman revealed that he wanted to move up in weight to fight Jan Blachowicz. The Polish fighter was the UFC’s light-heavyweight champion at the time and had recently defeated Usman’s countryman in Israel Adesanya.

While most of the rounds were close, the second round is the one where Usman appeared to take the lead as he knocked Covington down twice. However, none of the three judges cageside gave Usman a 10-8 round, so when fans and the media on social media gave him a 10-8, Covington disagreed with them.
