Kamaru Usman is naming the only opponent ‘that even makes sense’ for him to fight next. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ (20-3 MMA) has not stepped foot in the Octagon since his back-to-back losses against Leon Edwards (21-3 MMA) at UFC  278 in August of 2022 and again at UFC 286 in March of this year.

Former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman recently got some work with Odell Beckham Jr. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ has been out of action since his trilogy bout with Leon Edwards in March. The two headlined UFC 286 in London, as the British fighter ended the rivalry by unanimous decision. The defeat was the second in a row for Kamaru Usman, previously losing to ‘Rocky’ by knockout last August.

UFC middleweight contender Khamzat Chimaev has responded to Kamaru Usman. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ has been out of the cage since his decision loss to Leon Edwards in March. That bout was his second straight loss to ‘Rocky’, and took the Nigerian out of the title picture for the time being. As such, Usman decided to make a spirited callout earlier this month.

It was at UFC 261 in April of 2021 where Jorge Masvidal (35-16 MMA) met up with Kamaru Usman (20-3 MMA) in the welterweight main event at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida. The result was a KO win for Usman at 1:02 of round 2 to retain the welterweight belt.

Last weekend at UFC 285, Leon Edwards was able to defeat Kamaru Usman via majority decision. It marked the second time he was able to do so, following on from his head kick knockout win last summer.
