Karolina Kowalkiewicz wants title shot with win at UFC 228, feels Jedrzejczyk is undeserving

Former UFC strawweight title challenger Karolina Kowalkiewicz believes that the winner of her UFC 228 fight with Jessica Andrade should be next in line for UFC strawweight champion Rose Namajunas. In her eyes, the rest of the world probably agrees with this statement.

“I think this fight against Jessica Andrade will be a title eliminator,” Karolina Kowalkiewicz said in an interview with Poland’s MMANews.pl. “Not only do I think this way, but also the rest of the world.

“I think Rose will fight against the winner of my fight with Jessica Andrade,” Kowalkiewicz added later in the interview.

One person who might disagree with this claim from Karolina Kowalkiewicz, of course, is former UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk. While Jedrzejczyk has recent wins over both Kowalkiewicz and Andrade, she also has two recently losses to Namajunas. Kowalkiewicz feels this eliminates the former champion from the discussion for the moment. Even in spite of her recent defeat of Tecia Torres.

“I don’t want to offend Joanna, but sometimes she loses contact with reality and she leads with her legend. Logically, Rose would have to fight for the third time with a fighter that she defeated twice,” Kowalkiewicz said.

“Maybe the win over Tecia could give Joanna the title fight, but only after Rose would fight someone else first, so it means Joanna would have to wait for a really long time,” she added. “I think the champion has something to say, and it’s not like Joanna is the ‘Strawweight Queen’ and everything will be exactly as she said.

“Rose proved twice that she’s better [than Jedrzejczyk], and she will want to fight someone else.”
