Kelvin Gastelum is facing more consequences for missing weight for UFC 205.

on Monday, ESPN’s Brett Okamoto reported that the New York State Athletic Commission has suspended Gastelum for not showing up for his scheduled weigh-in for UFC 205.

Gastelum was scheduled to fight in a welterweight bout against Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone at UFC 205 in New York.

Unfortunately for Cerrone, he did not get to compete at UFC 205 as Gastelum pulled out of the bout knowing he was not going to make weight for the competition. Cerrone weighed in at the official UFC 205 weigh-ins and received his show money for the fight. Gastelum, however, did not weigh in for the contest.

New York State Athletic Commission spokeswoman Mercedes Padilla emailed a statement to ESPN on Monday confirming that the commission decided to suspend Gastelum for six months for not showing up to weigh-in.

Gastelum’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz told ESPN that they are intending to appeal the suspension.

Suspensions for fighters missing weight is not typical. However, UFC 205 was the first professional MMA fight to take place in the state of New York since being legalized in March.

UFC 205 marks the third time Gastelum missed weight in his UFC career and UFC President Dana White has stated he will never let Gastelum compete at welterweight again.

Gastelum posted the following statement on social media three days ago:

And such is life….we live and learn through trial and error. To suffer and to fail is common to all. But to suffer and keep composure, faith and a smile through it all, is truly remarkable. I have found that pain will shape you more profoundly than anything else you can imagine, and Iam making all the necessary changes in my power to make things better for myself when it comes to correcting my mistakes. With all that said, I know there is a God and he is in control and I intend to live the life of a Champion that I know God intended for me to live. #upsanddownsoflife #OntotheNext1 #OnAmission4Gold
P.S. I feel really bad for the next guy locked in a cage with me.
