Current UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov was clearly watching tonight’s UFC Milwaukee main event fight between fellow 155-pounders Kevin Lee and Al Iaquinta. Shortly following Kevin Lee’s unanimous decision loss to Al Iaquinta in tonight’s UFC on FOX 31 main event, “The Eagle” took to Twitter where he delivered the following message to “The Motown Phenom”.

Through 20-career fights, Kevin Lee has only lost three times. On Saturday at UFC on FOX 31, Lee will look to avenge one of those blemishes as he faces Al Iaquinta in a rematch. Lee was only 21-years-old when he suffered the first loss of his career to Iaquinta back at UFC 169. Losing by unanimous decision at the time, Lee not only plans to get his hand raised on Saturday, but he plans to send Iaquinta back to the preliminary portion of the card.

Speaking to the Russian newspaper Izvestia this week, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, the father of UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, gave his take on three of the most likely opponents for his son’s next fight: Tony Ferguson, Dustin Poirier and Kevin Lee. Interestingly, he seems to want both Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee to fight Islam Makhachev rather than Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Last night, in the main event of UFC Sao Paulo, Thiago Santos stepped into the cage with short-notice replacement opponent Eryk Anders. Toward the end of the third round, Santos began unloading on Anders on the ground, punishing him with thudding punches and elbows to the head. Remarkably, however, Anders survived until round’s end. Unfortunately, Anders could not regain his footing once the round was over. Although it his cornermen attempted to peel him off the canvas, he collapsed not once, but twice, which prompted referee Marc Goddard to wave the fight off.

Over the weekend, in the main event of the action-packed UFC Lincoln card, former World Series of Fighting lightweight champion Justin Gaethje authored a violent, one-punch knockout of his rival James Vick. With this victory, Gaethje served to separate himself from the first losses of his career: back to back knockouts dealt by Eddie Alvarez and Dustin Poirier. The win also helped reestablish Gaethje as one of the lightweight division’s top players, and set him up for more big fights in the near future.
