Khabib Nurmagomedov discusses his options in the “very heated” lightweight division
Khabib Nurmagomedov was crowned the UFC’s undisputed lightweight champion earlier this month in Brooklyn, this after he scored a unanimous decision victory over Al Iaquinta in the main event of UFC 223.
The undefeated Russian fighter, Nurmagomedov, now has a handful of fighters to choose from for his first title defense including Conor McGregor, Tony Ferguson, Eddie Alvarez, Dustin Poirier and Kevin Lee.
“The Eagle” took to instagram on Sunday where he shared not only his expected return date but also his thoughts on the UFC’s “very heated” lightweight title picture.
“Lightweight division is the most competitive division in #UFC At this moment, atmosphere is very heated: there is Conor and Tony, Porier, Lee and Alvarez, all of them are good. Fight with any of these guys would be very interesting and competitive. I never choose opponent, fought with any fighter who was offered me to fight, and I’m not going to change that. I’m coming back November – December to defend my belt. Whoever @ufc decide to fight me with, I’ll sign.” – Khabib Nurmagomedov
Former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion is currently in some legal trouble but that may all be sorted out by the time November or December comes around.
That same logic applies to former UFC interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson who is currently recovering from knee surgery.
