Khabib Nurmagomedov following UFC 205 title snub: “I will make them remember”
#1 ranked UFC lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov has been on quite the rollercoaster ride in regards to getting a fight. After it was initially reported that the UFC was targeting a lightweight title fight between Conor McGregor and Eddie Alvarez for the main event of UFC 205, UFC President Dana White then stated that it was Nurmagomedov who was being offered the title fight against Alvarez at UFC 205.
Former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub was quick to explain the situation, revealing that Alvarez demanded too much money from the UFC for a fight with McGregor at the Madison Square Garden, and as a result the UFC gave him ‘The Eagle’ as an opponent instead.
While Alvarez refuted the claims, Nurmagomedov leaked photos of signed contracts for a fight with Alvarez at either UFC 205 and UFC 206, just waiting on the champ’s signature.
Shortly after, it was announced that McGregor and Alvarez would be squaring off for the lightweight belt in the main event of UFC 205. That didn’t sit too well with ‘The Eagle’ who took to social media to explain why he felt “used” by the UFC in their negotiations between McGregor & Alvarez.
Despite that, it was announced at the UFC 205 press conference on Tuesday that Nurmagomedov would be fighting Michael Johnson on the historic card.
The undefeated Dagestani fighter followed up that announcement with a social media post in which he promised that he would not be broken.
