Khabib Nurmagomedov opens as a big favorite for potential fight with Conor McGregor!

Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov

Surging UFC lightweight contender Khabib Nurmagomedov improved his professional mixed martial arts record to a perfect 25-0 last night in Las Vegas. “The Eagle” battered fellow contender Edson Barboza for the better part of fifteen minutes in the co-main event of UFC 219 to solidify his status as the lightweight divisions top contender.

Khabib’s next fight will now hinge on if current UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor decides to return to the octagon.

While it would only make sense for Conor McGregor to have a title unification bout with current interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson in his next octagon appearance, that may not be how things play out.

McGregor will likely base the choice of his next opponent on their respective “draw power”, and if that is the case, “The Eagle” could very well edge out “El Cucuy”.

Sports books have already put out odds for a potential fight between the undefeated Russian and the Irish superstar and they are rather shocking.

Check it out:

“Nurmagomedov now listed as a -260 favorite over McGregor (+180). Opening odds were -115 for each”

Conor McGregor has not stepped foot in the octagon since UFC 205 in November of 2016, where he scored a second-round knockout victory over Eddie Alvarez to claim the UFC lightweight title.

McGregor’s lone fight in 2017 came in the squared circle when he made his professional boxing debut against Floyd Mayweather this past August in Las Vegas.

“Mystic Mac” would end up suffering a tenth-round TKO loss to “Money” but earned a ton of money and respect for his efforts.

Who do you think would emerge victorious if Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor squared off in 2018? Sound off PENN Nation!
