Khabib Nurmagomedov's comments to Michael Johnson mid-fight are terrifying
bjpenndotcom - November 17, 2016
This past weekend at UFC 205, top ranked UFC lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov stepped into the Octagon on the preliminary card portion of the historic fight card to square off against heavy handed lightweight Michael Johnson. The fight was an incredibly dominant one for Nurmagomedov, who made it 8 straight wins in the UFC, extending his undefeated professional record to 24-0 as he secured a 3rd round submission win over Johnson. As if the win, which included some brutal ground and pound shots from ‘The Eagle’ wasn’t enough, footage from the ‘UFC 205: The Thrill and Agony’ preview shows Nurmagomedov so confident and dominant in the fight that he begins to talk trash to Johnson while landing his ground and pound shots, saying: “You have to give up” before then turning to UFC President Dana White while still landing strikes on Johnson, and saying “I need to fight for the title, you know this. I deserve it.”

Conor McGregor now wears the crown in two of the UFC’s most stacked divisions. He earned the first when he knocked out Jose Aldo in just 13 seconds last December. He earned the second last Saturday at UFC 205 in New York, when he levelled lightweight champ Eddie Alvarez with a gorgeous second-round combination. Or, he could take on the undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov, who improved his record to a sparkling 24-0 with a submission win over Michael Johnson on the UFC 205 undercard.

UFC 205, which will emanate from New York City’s hallowed Madison Square Garden on November 12, will be headlined by a lightweight title fight between divisional king Eddie Alvarez and undisputed featherweight champ Conor McGregor. The bout will mark Alvarez’s opportunity to derail one of the biggest hype trains in MMA, and McGregor’s opportunity to make history as the first fighter to hold two UFC titles concurrently. Needless to say, this is a massive fight. For a time, however, it looked as though this fight wouldn’t actually come to fruition, as the UFC had a difficult time negotiating its terms with both fighters involved. Our chances of seeing this fight looked bleakest in late September, when UFC President Dana White assured that the next shot at Alvarez’s lightweight title would go to undefeated contender Khabib Nurmagomedov – not McGregor.
