Rountree is set to headline UFC 307 on October 5 against Pereira for the light heavyweight title. It’s an intriguing matchup and many expect it to be a striking matchup. However, Wood thinks once Pereira sees Rountree’s striking and power he will shoot for a takedown.

Khalil Rountree has gained clearance to challenge Alex Pereira for the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship. While Pereira vs. Rountree had already been announced for UFC 307, there was one hurdle to get past before the fight could actually materialize. Rountree self-reported DHEA ingestion through a supplement company, which would led the Nevada Athletic Commission to conclude that he took in tainted supplements. This took place prior to a planned UFC 303 bout with Jamahal Hill, which ended up being scrapped.

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill has vented his frustration after Khalil Rountree was given the next title shot at 205lbs. UFC CEO Dana White announced on Friday that Pereira would be defending his light heavyweight title in the main event of UFC 307 in Utah against Rountree. The fight came as a huge surprise, especially due to the fact that Rountree was pulled from his last fight against Hill due to a failed drug test.

Khalil Rountree Jr has received a reduced suspension from CSAD after providing evidence that he did not knowingly take a banned substance. As many fight fans will know, Khalil Rountree Jr was scheduled to take on Jamahal Hill at UFC 303. It would’ve served as the biggest fight of his career to date against a man who, just over a month ago, was the UFC light heavyweight champion.

Jamahal Hill has opened as the betting favorite ahead of his UFC 303 fight against Khalil Rountree. Hill is making a quick turnaround after losing to Alex Pereira by first-round knockout at UFC 300 for the light heavyweight title. Despite being knocked out, Hill will return on June 29 against Rountree, which the UFC announced would be the co-main event of UFC 303. Of course, the main event sees Conor McGregor taking on Michael Chandler.

Jamahal Hill will be making a quick turnaround as he has been booked to fight Khalil Rountree Jr. at UFC 303 on June 29. Hill (12-2 MMA) is of course coming off a first-round KO loss to Alex Pereira in his bid to reclaim the promotion‘s light heavyweight title in the main event of UFC 300 (see that here). That setback had marked Jamahal’s first fight since January of 2023, where he defeated Glover Teixeira to claim the vacant light heavyweight title at UFC 283. Jamahal Hill had earned that title opportunity after scoring three consecutive knockouts over Jimmy Crute, Johnny Walker and Thiago Santos.

Khalil Rountree isn’t pounding the table to fight UFC lightweight champion Alex Pereira this second, but he does believe the fight would have some juice to it. Rountree has been rolling inside the Octagon as of late. He recently extended his winning streak to five by stopping Anthony Smith via TKO in the third round. “The War Horse” earned his second “Performance of the Night” bonus as a result of his handiwork at UFC Vegas 83.

That victory had snapped a two-fight losing skid for ‘Lionheart’, as the 35-year-old veteran had previously suffered setbacks to Johnny Walker and Magomed Ankalaev respectively.

After Daukaus suffered his third-straight knockout loss back in December to Jairzinho Rozenstruik, he announced he would be dropping down to light heavyweight. Daukaus did a test cut which went well and was then booked to face Khalil Rountree at UFC 289 in June. However, just under two weeks before the event, Daukaus had to withdraw due to an undisclosed injury.

A light heavyweight contest featuring Khalil Rountree taking on Dustin Jacoby kicks off tonight’s UFC Vegas 63 main card. Rountree (11-5 MMA) was most recently seen in action this past March, where he scored a second-round TKO victory over Karl Roberson. That win served as the second straight for ‘The War Horse’, as he had previously TKO’d Modestas Bukauskas in September of 2021.

After the win, he wanted to face another ranked opponent but that won’t be the case as he will take on Rountree at UFC Vegas 63.

The result was a second round TKO victory for ‘The War Horse’, who destroyed the knee of Modestas with a nasty oblique kick.
