UFC middleweight Marvin Vettori finally has another opponent after being booked in a rematch against Omari Akhmedov at UFC 256, MMA Junkie reports. The outspoken Italian has been pleading for another chance to prove himself against one of the division’s best in the wake of his dominant submission win over Karl Roberson back in June. Now, in addition to being given another fight, he’ll also have the opportunity to right a wrong from earlier on in his career.

Vettori was able to take his current winning streak in the UFC to three fights in June as the Italian continues to try and climb up through the ranks of the 185-pound division. Weidman, on the other hand, finally got back on the winning trail with a unanimous decision victory over Omari Akhmedov at the start of August.

Weidman won a unanimous decision over Omari Akhmedov in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 6 to get back into the win column for the first time since 2017. It wasn’t the best performance of Weidman’s career, and he himself admitted he wasn’t impressed by his showing in the fight. But ultimately the name of the game is winning and Weidman was able to get his hand raised against a top-15 middleweight in the form of Akhmedov.

The full list of salaries for this past Saturday’s UFC on ESPN 10 card have been revealed, and middleweight Marvin Vettori led the pack in pay. In the co-main event, middleweight contender Marvin Vettori picked up $148,000 for his first-round submission victory over Karl Roberson. Vettori earned $43,000 each for show and win, plus an additional $12,000 as a result of Roberson missing weight, as he was fined 30 percent for the infraction. Additionally, Vettori earned a $50,000 bonus for “Performance of the Night” to take his total payout up to $148,000.

The UFC typically hands out a shared “Fight of the Night” award and two “Performance of the Night” awards following their events, but with so many individuals having standout performances, UFC president Dana White chose to give our four bonuses. White actually took to social media during the event to tell fans to vote on who they believed should win the bonuses after he was recently criticized for blowing a “Fight of the Night” bonus call.
