Matt Brown reacts to fighting Jake Ellenberger
Following his recent defeat at the hands of Demian Maia earlier this month at UFC 198 in Brazil, fan favorite welterweight Matt Brown signed an 8 fight deal with the UFC.
Shortly after his new contract was finalized, Brown signed to fight Jake Ellenberger at UFC 201. The fight is a crucial one for both fighters. Brown enters the bout following his loss to Demian Maia, which saw him drop to #8 on the UFC’s stacked welterweight ranking ladder. Ellenberger on the other hand enters the bout on a 2-fight losing streak, going just 1-4 in his last 5 fights.
Brown spoke on his Great MMA Debate podcast to discuss the bout:
“Jake is a great fighter. Even though he’s lost a few fights lately, we know how dangerous he is,” Brown said. “That makes it more dangerous for me, right? I’ve got a guy we all know he’s dangerous. He’s hurt some guys bad, he’s knocked some guys out. He’s explosive. He’s an athlete. … Now he’s on the cutting block probably, and he’s probably got his back up to the wall. He’s being cornered here. That’s a dangerous spot for me to put him in.”
