Matt Brown releases short and sweet statement following KO loss to Donald Cerrone
Matt Brown and Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone engaged in one of the great fights from the exhilerating UFC 206 event that took place at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto over the weekend.
Brown and Cerrone went to war in a back and forth battle that came to an end in the third round where Cerrone landed a devastating kick to the head of Brown as he was leaning into the powerful attack. Brown dropped to the canvas and Cerrone realized Brown’s condition and did not need to follow up with any strikes to the downed veteran.
On Sunday, Brown tweeted a short and sweet message to his fans.
Brown said, “Want to send out a shout to all of you guys that give me positive energy and continue to motivate and inspire me on this journey.#notoveryet.”

Matt Brown holds a 20-16 professional MMA record and has had 23 of his professional fights in the UFC. “The Immortal” has been on a bumpy road going 1-5 in his last six bouts against some of the welterweight division’s best including former welterweight champions Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler. Prior to his last six bouts, Brown was on a seven-fight win streak and served the last welterweight title challenger, Stephen Thompson, his only loss.
Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone has been on a tear since moving up from the UFC lightweight division up to the welterweight division. Cerrone has gone 4-0 in the welterweight division, taking all of his UFC welterweight bouts in 2016 and has been climbing the rankings quickly, hoping to get closer to a welterweight title shot.
