He lands a right hand and then shoots in for a takedown. Brown works in an elbow as Sanchez wrestles for a single leg takedown. Matt is doing a good job of defending. Diego works in some knees to the thigh of Brown. Matt is trying hard to break off of the cage but Sanchez won’t let him. Brown finally breaks free. Diego catches him with a shot to the body. Matt Brown Thinks Diego Sanchez Retiring With Him Would Be a 'Great Story'

Justin Golightly - September 27, 2017

It came as a surprise when ‘The Immortal’ Matt Brown decided he was going to step away from the sport. He announced that his UFC Norfolk fight with Diego Sanchez would be the last time he steps into the Octagon, officially retiring whether he wins or loses. His exciting fights will be missed, but much respect to Matt Brown for getting out when he feels it’s time. He thinks that this moment could be all the more special, if his opponent decided it was time to leave the gloves in the cage as well. “My game plan is not much different than always. I’m going to punch [Diego Sanchez] before he punches me, I’m going to punch him more times than he punches me, and I’m going to punch him harder than he punches me. It’s not that complicated, man. You know what you’re getting when you’re fighting Diego, I think people know what they’re getting when they fight me. I’m going to come forward, he’s going to come forward, we’re going to meet in the middle, we’re going to throw down.”

Matt Brown explains impact of training under Duane Ludwig

bjpenndotcom - December 7, 2016

UFC welterweight Matt Brown is gearing up for what could very well be the biggest fight of his MMA career this Saturday at UFC 206. Brown, who is currently ranked at #14 on the UFC’s official welterweight rankings, will be stepping into the Octagon to fight former lightweight title challenger, #5 ranked welterweight Donald Cerrone. The fight will take place on the main card, and is a pivotal fight for both men. For Brown, he will be looking to snap a 2-fight losing streak that has seen him be submitted by Demian Maia at UFC 198, and then TKOd by Jake Ellenberger at UFC 201 back in July. On the other hand, for Cerrone, the fight is an opportunity to extend his unbeaten streak at welterweight to 4-0 as he looks to defeat a gritty veteran in ‘The Immortal’.
