Conor McGregor pokes fun at Max Holloway, Holloway fires back
Last night, in the main event of the action-packed UFC 218, UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway made the first successful defense of his title, taking out featherweight great Jose Aldo with third-round punches.
With this win, Holloway extended his current streak to a whopping 12-straight. The Hawaiian’s last loss occurred back in August of 2013, when he was out-hustled by Conor McGregor. Shortly after Holloway’s UFC 218 win, McGregor took to Twitter to remind him of this fact.

“I miss those sunglasses,” McGregor said in his Tweet. The Tweet included a picture of a bruised Holloway, taken after their fight, with McGregor visible in the background.
Unsurprisingly, it did not take Holloway long to reply.
Miss the sunglasses? I bet you also miss 2015 brother. Retired fighters love the past. pic.twitter.com/UWGnJG2KEe

“Miss the sunglasses?” Holloway gibed in his response. “I bet you also miss 2015 brother. Retired fighters love the past.”
McGregor, of course, is not officially retired, but with a $100 million payday in the rear-view, his desire to compete seems to be waining. He has not competed in MMA since he knocked out Eddie Alvarez to capture the UFC lightweight title in November of 2016. He has not competed at featherweight, meanwhile, since 2015, when he authored his own knockout of Jose Aldo in just 13 seconds.
Do you think we’ll ever see Max Holloway and Conor McGregor run it back?
