Max Holloway delivers a bold statement to Jose Aldo at UFC 212 Press Conference
UFC interim featherweight champion Max “Blessed” Holloway delivered a bold statement to reigning UFC 145-pound tile holder Jose Aldo at today’s UFC 212 press conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The recently crowned UFC interim featherweight champion, Holloway, brought Jose Aldo a soccer ball at today’s UFC 212 press conference.
Why is the significant you ask?
Well, Jose Aldo has stated in the past that he would like to play soccer, this after he is done with his professional fighting career.
Clearly Max Holloway’s intention was to imply that their title unification bout at UFC 212 would be Jose Aldo’s last fight before making the move.
Holloway will be entering into the title unification bout on a 10-fight win streak, which has seen the 24 year old Hawaiian go undefeated for 2 years.
“Blessed” captured the UFC interim featherweight strap this past December at UFC 206 in Toronto, after he TKO’d former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis in the events headlining fight.
Prior to his victory over Pettis, Max Holloway had earned back-t0-back decision wins over featherweight staples Ricardo Lamas and Jeremy Stephens.
Holloway’s most recent setback came way back in August of 2013, when he dropped a decision loss to current UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor.
Meanwhile, Jose Aldo will return to the cage at UFC 212 for the first time since defeating former lightweight champion Frankie “The Answer” Edgar at this past July’s blockbuster UFC 200 event in Las Vegas.
Prior to the win, Aldo was coming off a 13-second knockout loss to Conor McGregor, which snapped his incredible eighteen-fight win streak.
The UFC 212 pay-per-view event takes place June 3 live from the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
