Conor McGregor "interested in running it back" with Max Holloway

UFC superstar Conor McGregor says that he is “interested in running it back” with former UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway. McGregor and Holloway fought back at UFC Fight Night 26 in August 2013 when both fighters were relatively new to the UFC. Although he was injured during the fight, McGregor was able to take Holloway down and control him on the mat for a rare grappling-based victory. To put it in perspective, McGregor has landed five takedowns in his UFC career. One of them came against Diego Brandao, and four of them came against Holloway.

In the main event of the stacked UFC 251 card on Fight Island, Kamaru Usman was looking to defend his welterweight title against Jorge Masvidal. The co-main attraction saw Alex Volkanovski and Max Holloway have their immediate rematch for the featherweight strap. And, in the third and final title fight Petr Yan took on Jose Aldo for the promotions vacant bantamweight strap. In the end, Usman defended his belt for the second time in dominant fashion, winning all five rounds on two judges scorecards. In the co-main, Volkanovski narrowly edged out a split decision win, and Yan became the new Bantamweight champion with a fifth-round TKO win over Aldo.

Former UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway reacted following a narrow split decision loss to Alex Volkanovski in the co-main event of UFC 251. Holloway and Volkanovski went toe-to-toe for 25 minutes in an incredibly-close rematch, but after five rounds of action, the judges deemed Volkanovski as the winner by split decision with scores of 47-48, 48-47, and 48-47. It was a controversial decision, with many fans, media, and fellow fighters believing that Holloway had done enough to get his hand raised. Alas, the judges cageside gave the nod to Volkanovski instead.
