Megan Anderson and the featherweight torch

Drake Riggs - May 13, 2019

Fighters are responsible for a lot more things than perhaps meets the eye. On the surface level, they’re responsible for providing for themselves as anyone is in their profession. Others may argue that they’re also responsible for the entertainment of their audiences as performers and public figures. But it can go much deeper than that whether it be from representing one’s family, country, or gym. When you’re fighting, you’re fighting for a purpose. A select few may have spotlights magnified upon them from the starts of their careers whereas others really have to grind and work their ways into it. Everything is situational and for Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia’s finest in Megan Anderson, it’s almost like a never-ending battle in and outside of the cage.

Drake Riggs - March 26, 2019

Things are finally starting to happen within the UFC’s women’s featherweight division as evidenced by the recent signing of Invicta FC champion, Felicia Spencer (6-0). It was seemingly just a matter of time for the unbeaten homegrown Invicta talent to wind up on a big stage here sooner or later, it was just a matter of when and where.

Well, UFC 232 has come and gone and less than a month later it seems that the ripple effect from the night’s results is about to be felt. In the co-main event on December 29, UFC bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes scored a massive and historical knockout win over the longtime ruler at featherweight, Cris Cyborg. Thus making Nunes the first ever two-division female champion.

Cat Zingano appeals UFC 232 loss to Megan Anderson

Tom Taylor - January 14, 2019

At UFC 232, which went down in late December in Los Angeles, former UFC bantamweight title challenger Cat Zingano stepped into the cage with former Invicta champ Megan Anderson for a highly anticipated featherweight contender bout. Unfortunately, this bout ended in controversy. Early in the first round, Anderson uncorked a well-timed head kick. Regrettably, her toe landed right in Zingano’s eye, causing a nasty laceration that forced the end of the fight.

Megan Anderson opens up on Cat Zingano win, re-extends rematch offer

Tom Taylor - December 31, 2018

Last Saturday night, on the undercard of the action packed UFC 232 card, former Invicta champion Megan Anderson picked up an impressive first-round win over Cat Zingano — but probably not quite the way she imagined. Although it was a well-timed head kick that set up the finish for Megan Anderson, it was an inadvertent toe to Zingano’s eye that ended the action.

On Saturday night, on the undercard of UFC 232 at the Forum in Inglewood, California, former UFC bantamweight title challenger Cat Zingano moved up to the featherweight division for a showdown with former Invicta champion Megan Anderson. The two women collided in hopes of earning a shot at the winner of the UFC 232 main event, which pitted divisional champion Cris Cyborg against bantamweight champ Amanda Nunes. In the end, this fight ended rather strangely — and perhaps disastrously for Cat Zingano.

Often targeted as the biggest obstacle one can face entering into the Octagon is ‘UFC jitters’. Something that promotional newcomer, Megan Anderson showed no sign of last night at UFC 225.

EXCLUSIVE | James Krause on Megan Anderson, 'She's a fan's fighter'

Mike Pendleton - June 9, 2018

James Krause has had his hand involved in many ways with mixed martial arts. He’s on a four-fight win streak in the lightweight division, he’s a former Ultimate Fighter contestant, and he’s also coached on Team Miocic during this current season of TUF. Although he’s been successful inside the Octagon, Krause has been finding more gratitude and happiness in being a coach. Krause is the main coach for Megan Anderson who is making her much anticipated UFC debut after plenty of success in Invicta FC. Entering her UFC debut on a four-fight win streak of her own, Anderson will take on former UFC bantamweight champion Holly Holm in the first ever non-title women’s featherweight fight.

Holly Holm still feels like bantamweight is "home" as UFC 225 featherweight contender fight approaches

Tom Taylor - June 4, 2018

This Saturday night, on the main card of UFC 225, former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm will battle Megan Anderson in a fight that is likely to produce the next challenger for featherweight champ Cris Cyborg. While a win at UFC 225 could easily earn Holm another crack at Cyborg, who she lost a decision to in December, she still feels like the bantamweight division is her true home. “I definitely feel like 135 is a little more my home,” Holm said Friday at a UFC 225 media lunch (via MMAFighting).

Megan Anderson believes she's important for the featherweight division, excited to showcase her evolution at UFC 225

Drake Riggs - May 12, 2018

Finally set to make her long-awaited UFC debut is the former Invicta FC featherweight champion, Megan Anderson. Anderson will be making her debut at UFC 225 on June 9th when she takes on former UFC bantamweight champion, Holly Holm. Since the UFC’s inception of the women’s 145-pound featherweight division in February 2017, they have essentially had just a two-person roster if you only count fighters that have never fought below 140 pounds. Those two being Anderson and the reigning champion, Cris Cyborg.

Holly Holm Understands Her Position, Feels "it is make or break" vs Megan Anderson at UFC 225

Drake Riggs - April 25, 2018

A UFC career can be a true roller coaster ride in every sense of the phrase. You can go from incredible highs to devastating lows in the blink of an eye. For Holly Holm, she isn’t quite at a point of ‘rock bottom’, but the once champion has lost some steam since her phenomenal dismantling of the dominant bantamweight champion, Ronda Rousey back in 2015.
