AUDIO | Michael Bisping and Tyron Woodley talk trash over the phone
Last week, UFC middleweight champ Michael Bisping and UFC welterweight champ Tyron Woodley made waves by agreeing to fight each other at a catchweight of 180lbs. Their agreeing to do so, of course, only means so much.
Woodley, after all, currently has his hands full with streaking welterweight contenders like Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson and Demian Maia. Bisping, on the other hand, has an extremely dangerous challenge on his horizon in former Olympian Yoel Romero. Given this, the possibility of the UFC actually pitting the two champions against each other seems somewhat slim.
That being said, Woodley and Bisping are doing what they can to hype this prospective super fight by talking plenty of trash about each other. The most recent instance of their trash talk occurred on Bisping’s podcast, The Countdown with Michael Bisping.

Michael Bisping would enter the Octagon for this potential showdown on a five-fight win-streak. This streak began with decision defeats of CB Dolloway and Thales Leites. The most significant wins of this streak, however, were the three most recent ones, which saw him defeat middleweight GOAT Anderson Silva, knock out Luke Rockhold to win the UFC middleweight title, and defend the title in a tooth-and-nail battle with Dan Henderson, avenging the worst loss of his career in the process.
Tyron Woodley, on the other hand, would step onto the canvas for this fight with an action-packed draw against Stephen Thompson in the rear-view mirror. Prior to this draw, Woodley won the UFC welterweight title with a first-round knockout of the notoriously durable Robbie Lawler. This title win was preceded by defeats of top-10 opposition in Kelvin Gastelum and Dong Hyun Kim.
