Michael Bisping is interested in retiring at UFC Liverpool

The UFC’s upcoming stop in Liverpool, England already looks like a big card. From the sounds of it, it could get even bigger, as former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping is interested in competing in his retirement fight at the event.

“This is a ‘Believe You Me’ exclusive,” Bisping said on the latest edition of his Believe You Me podcast (h/t MMAJunkie). “UFC, I’m available. If you want me on that card, you’ve got my number.”

Initially, Bisping was noncommittal about retiring in Liverpool. Apparently, though, he’s all for it if the right offer is made.

“That’s a nice retirement fight,” he said. “Liverpool. Northwest of England. That’s where I’m from.

“I am interested in fighting on that card,” he added. “We’ll see what the UFC comes up with, but yeah, definitely interested, for sure. That would be my last fight.”

“I said to the UFC throw some names my way, and we’ll see. We’ll see what they come back with. But yeah, I’m certainly interested. Definitely interested, so there you go.”

While nothing is certain just yet, the most likely candidate for Bisping’s final opponent would seem to be a fellow former champ in Luke Rockhold, who he’s 2-2 with across two fights.

Bisping and Rockhold have swapped ceaseless trash talk over the last few months, with Rockhold even promising he’d retire if he loses to the Brit again.

“If Bisping beats me in this fight, I’ll be the motherfucker who retires,” he told FloCombat. “If Bisping beats me in this fight, this will be my retirement fight.”

While fans in Liverpool are undoubtedly drooling over the prospect of a Bisping vs. Rockhold fight occurring on their card, it definitely seems unlikely. It’s hard to imagine Bisping’s retirement fight not serving as the main event of whatever card it occurs on, and UFC Liverpool already has a headliner in hometown hero Darren Till’s clash with Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson.
