Michael Bisping is the Winningest Fighter in UFC History
When it comes to history-making and record-breaking, UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping has quite a few feathers in his cap.
Over the course of his UFC career, he’s landed more significant strikes than any fighter in the organization’s history. He’s landed more leg kicks than any fighter in UFC middleweight history. He’s scored more UFC middleweight wins than any fighter in history. He’s the first British champion in UFC history. He’s the only fighter in the history of the UFC to win The Ultimate Fighter, win a UFC title, and then register a defense of that title. As of Saturday night, he’s also the winningest fighter in UFC history, with a whopping twenty victories inside the Octagon.
Bisping achieved this milestone in the main event of UFC 204, when he nabbed a competitive decision win against an old foil in Dan Henderson. Prior to this fight with Henderson, the Brit had scored 19 wins inside the Octagon, which tied him with Georges St-Pierre for most wins in UFC history. With this win, then, he improved to 20 Octagon triumphs, making him the sole owner of that record.
Given that St. Pierre, who is currently retired, is expected to make a return to action in the near future, Bisping may soon again find himself sharing this honor once again. It’s also possible that he’s surpassed by the ever active Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, who has registered 18 wins in the UFC cage, or Demian Maia, who also recently registered his 18th UFC win.
For the moment, however, Bisping can take pride in the fact that he’s had his hand raised more than any fighter in the long and illustrious history of The Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Are you impressed by Michael Bisping’s career? Do you think he deserves a spot in the UFC Hall of Fame? Sound off, PENN nation!
