Michael Bisping says UFC 199 fight with Luke Rockhold is actually their rubber match

By Russell Ess - May 18, 2016

Michael “The Count” Bisping will get his first UFC title shot just shy of the 10 year anniversary of his UFC debut.

Going into his 26th UFC fight, Bisping will fight middleweight champion Luke Rockhold for the title on June 4 at UFC 199. Bisping steps in on two and a half weeks notice after Rockhold’s originally scheduled opponent, Chris Weidman, was forced to pull out of the fight due to an injury.

This will be the second time Rockhold and Bisping meet in the Octagon with Rockhold holding a submission victory over Bisping at UFC Fight Night 55 back in November 2014.

However, Bisping insists that this will actually be their rubber match with their first fight taking place in a training session back when Rockhold was the Strikeforce middleweight champion.

Bisping reminded Rockhold of their training session in a recent tweet saying, “See you in 2 weeks @LukeRockhold I got the first match and you know it, you got the second. Let’s settle this once and for all! #UFC199”

Bisping added that despite accepting his first title fight on short notice, he insists that he has kept busy.
