According to Michael Bisping, a potential welterweight contender bout between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz is a bigger deal than the upcoming welterweight title fight between champ Kamaru Usman and challenger Colby Covington. After successfully beating Anthony Pettis at UFC 241, Diaz called for a fight against the formidable contender Masvidal. Masvidal was receptive of this callout.

Michael Bisping believes Nate Diaz has surpassed Conor McGregor in terms of popularity in the fight game. Since his August 2016 rematch against McGregor, Diaz has been disputing the notion that he can’t draw outside of sharing the Octagon with McGregor. He’s been at odds with UFC president Dana White, who once claimed that Diaz isn’t a “needle mover.” Diaz changed those opinions at the conclusion of UFC 241. The event broke a live gate record for MMA cards in the state of California.

Michael Bisping likes the idea of Nate Diaz vs. Jorge Masvidal, but he feels it isn’t likely to happen next. Diaz is scheduled to take on Anthony Pettis this Saturday night (Aug. 17) in the co-main event of UFC 241. This will be Diaz’s first bout since Aug. 2016, where he dropped a majority decision in a rematch with Conor McGregor. Even if Diaz emerges victorious this weekend, Bisping believes there’s a roadblock to the Stockton native colliding with Jorge Masvidal.

Michael Bisping would like to see Conor McGregor and Jose Aldo run it back at UFC 244. A star in McGregor was born even before UFC 194 back in Dec. 2015, but that star certainly shined brighter than ever at that point. Leading up to the event, McGregor had been doing all he could to get under Aldo’s skin. From ripping Aldo for pulling out of fights, to yanking his title from the table during a press conference, McGregor wasn’t short on antics.

The ‘champ champ’ is seemingly envious of Shevchenko’s time in the spotlight since her win at UFC Uruguay over Liz Carmouche. Jorge Masvidal and Michael Bisping were both in Montevideo for his past Saturday’s UFC Uruguay card. As recently as a few months ago, would have been a problem. Until very recently, the former UFC middleweight champion and the top welterweight contender were mortal enemies, with Masvidal taking repeated shots at Bisping in interviews and on social media.

He discussed the appeal of this matchup on the latest episode of his  Believe You Me podcast, explaining that the timing simply makes sense after Robbie Lawler fell onto a three-fight skid with a loss to Colby Covington last weekend, and Darren Till looks to rebound from two straight stoppage losses.

Michael Bisping believes Colby Covington has dethroned Henry Cejudo for the King of Cringe title. Covington had a stellar performance this past Saturday night (Aug. 3). “Chaos” went one-on-one with Robbie Lawler. He was relentless with his pressure throughout the fight and earned a unanimous decision victory over “Ruthless.” With the victory, Covington is now set to challenge UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman.

In late 2017, Michael Bisping attempted to defend the UFC middleweight title opposite returning welterweight legend Georges St-Pierre. Despite an admirable effort, Bisping was ultimately dropped and submitted by his Canadian foe in the waning moments of the third round. Speaking to MMA Junkie during a promotional tour for his new autobiography, Quitters Never Win, Bisping revealed that his performance in this fight was hindered by a rib injury, and claimed that he’d defeat St-Pierre in a rematch.

Michael Bisping believes Israel Adesanya could make things interesting in a bout with Jon Jones. Adesanya and Jones have been trading barbs ever since “The Last Stylebender” said he was “hunting” another GOAT after beating Anderson Silva. Adesanya is the interim UFC middleweight champion and he’s set for a title unification bout against Robert Whittaker on Oct. 5. Meanwhile, Jones is coming off the second successful title defense in his current reign as UFC light heavyweight champion.

Michael Bisping doesn’t believe Jorge Masvidal is ducking Leon Edwards in fear. The consensus on a potential welterweight clash between Masvidal and Edwards appears to be split. One side believes that the bout makes sense as the two were involved in a backstage incident back in March that saw Masvidal lay hands on Edwards, causing a cut under his eye. The other side believes that Masvidal’s stock has soared beyond the grudge match and he should be fighting for the 170-pound gold next.

Michael Bisping has given his take on the battery allegations against Jon Jones. Jones is facing battery charges following an alleged incident at TD’s Eubank Showroom in Albuquerque, New Mexico back in April. A waitress claims that Jones slapped her “inappropriately” and used force to kiss her neck. She also claims that Jones got her in a chokehold and kept touching her until he decided to leave despite being asked to stop. New details in the allegations emerged yesterday (July 23).

For a time, Michael Bisping and Luke Rockhold were two of the most heated rivals in the UFC middleweight division. The two former champions went 1-1 across two bouts, and exchanged plenty of trash talk throughout the time they were intertwined. Today, Michael Bisping is happily retired. Luke Rockhold, on the other hand, has fallen on hard times, losing three of his last four fights — all by knockout. Not even a move up to the light heavyweight division was able to revivify the former champion’s career, as he was knocked out by Jan Blachowicz in his debut in this heavier weight class.

Michael Bisping is no stranger to saying things that are, shall we say, cause for debate. The former UFC middleweight champion and newest Hall of Famer looks to have done it again when it comes to current two-division champs Amanda Nunes and Henry Cejudo. Earlier this month, Cejudo joked that he wants to take every championship in the UFC — including those that belong to Amanda Nunes. Despite the comedic connotation attached to the statements of the reigning UFC flyweight and bantamweight champion, Bisping says he would love to see the fight.

Michael Bisping wouldn’t be opposed to seeing Urijah Faber jump the line in the UFC bantamweight division. Back in Dec. 2016, Faber ended his professional mixed martial arts career. He walked off on his terms, defeating Brad Pickett via unanimous decision in Sacramento. Faber was later inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame. For Faber, however, the itch to compete didn’t go away.

Michael Bisping did not take any pleasure from watching his former rival Luke Rockhold get knocked out by Jan Blachowicz earlier this month at UFC 239. Rockhold had his light heavyweight debut spoiled in brutal fashion by Blachowicz, who floored ‘Rocky’ with a punch in round two of their UFC 239 scrap.
