VIDEO | Tyron Woodley: McGregor, St-Pierre, and Bisping don't want a fight against me
Russell Ess - March 7, 2017
Coming off a majority decision win over Stephen Thompson at UFC 209, it looks like UFC welterweight division champion Tyron Woodley will likely be taking on the next welterweight contender rather than getting himself a superfight with some of the stars surrounding the welterweight division.

Nick Diaz says he offered to fight Michael Bisping
Tom Taylor - March 7, 2017
After months of contract negotiations, former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre is finally poised for a comeback. He will not, however, be returning to the welterweight division he once ruled so dominantly. Instead, he will challenge Michael Bisping for the UFC middleweight title at a to-be-determined date and location, probably sometime in the second half of this year. Given the way that St-Pierre’s title shot deprives legitimate middleweight title contenders like Yoel Romero and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza of the shots they’ve earned, this booking was an immediately controversial one. Yet Georges St-Pierre is one of the biggest stars in MMA history, so it’s understandable why the UFC gave him the fight he asked for.

Michael Bisping on Woodley-Thompson: If they’re the best welterweights in the world, then I should f*ck up GSP
Tom Taylor - March 6, 2017
Earlier this month, we learned that middleweight champion Michael Bisping would next defend his title against former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre. Given that St-Pierre stands out as the best welterweight in the history of our sport, this fight is a big deal for Bisping. Heading into this yet unscheduled contest, however, the middleweight champ is all confidence. His confidence only ballooned over the weekend, when he watched Tyron Woodley and Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson rematch for the UFC welterweight title in the main event of UFC 209. This fight, which Woodley won with a controversial majority decision, was an undeniably slow one, and one that did not reflect especially well on the welterweight division.

Bisping kicked off the press conference by showing up late, before making a grand entrance complete with several expletives, Conor McGregor style. After being told by a frustrated Dana White to take his seat, Georges St-Pierre took aim at the middleweight champ:

Earlier this week it was announced that former UFC welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre would be returning to the octagon to take on current UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping. Georges St-Pierre has not competed inside the cage since scoring a split-decision victory over Jonhy Hendricks in the main event of UFC 167 in November of 2013, thus retaining his welterweight strap in the process.

Michael Bisping defends choice to fight Georges St-Pierre over Yoel Romero
Tom Taylor - March 2, 2017
Later this year, at a to-be-determined date, UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping will defend his title. He will not, however, defend that title against Yoel Romero, Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, Luke Rockhold, Chris Weidman, Gegard Mousasi, Robert Whittaker, or any other member of the middleweight top-10. Instead, he’ll defend it against former welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre, who will be returning from a hiatus of several years. While the announcement of this fight generated excitement among some fans, it also generated plenty of backlash, as it deprives the middleweight division’s top contenders – namely Yoel Romero – of the title shots they’ve earned. Bisping, however, is not all that sympathetic. On a recent episode of UFC Tonight, the champ explained his choice to fight Georges St-Pierre over Yoel Romero. His words (via FoxSports).

Michael Bisping confident he will defeat "crazy" Georges St-Pierre
bjpenndotcom - March 2, 2017
This week, UFC President Dana White broke news that former UFC welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre would be returning to the Octagon in 2017 to fight UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping for the undisputed UFC middleweight title. The fight lined up with oddsmakers predictions that a Bisping-GSP fight was the most likely fight for the former champ in his return fight to the Octagon. Following the announcement of the fight, Bisping spoke to TMZ to discuss the situation saying:

Yoel Romero reacts to Michael Bisping vs. Georges St-Pierre booking
Tom Taylor - March 2, 2017
Earlier this month, we learned that former welterweight champion and bona fide MMA legend Georges St-Pierre had ironed out his differences with the UFC and agreed to the terms of a new contract. Yesterday, we learned that the first fight of his anticipated comeback will pit him against middleweight champion Michael Bisping, at a to-be-determined date and location. This news, unsurprisingly, thrust the combat sports world into a frenzy, as some fans applauded the matchup, and others shook their heads at the way St-Pierre’s title shot sabotages the many more deserving middleweight contenders – contenders like Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, Luke Rockhold, Robert Whittaker, Gegard Mousasi, and of course, streaking Cuban powerhouse Yoel Romero.

Michael Bisping: I don't think we'll ever see Luke Rockhold again
Tom Taylor - February 26, 2017
Back in June of 2016, a widely unheralded Michael Bisping shocked the world by clubbing Luke Rockhold to a first-round knockout, capturing the UFC middleweight title as a result. Since this win, Bisping has defended the middleweight title with a hard-fought decision win over the retiring Dan Henderson. Rockhold, meanwhile, has not been seen in the Octagon since. It is worth noting, of course, that Rockhold was briefly scheduled for a November rematch with Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, but was unfortunately forced out of this fight with an injury. Despite the legitimate reason for Rockhold’s lengthy absence from the cage, however, Bisping doesn’t believe he’ll ever return.

Michael Bisping & Yoel Romero's manager trade verbal shots
bjpenndotcom - February 23, 2017
UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping has continued to find his name in headlines despite the fact that he is currently sidelined with a knee injury sustained in his UFC 204 title defense against Dan Henderson, where he picked up a unanimous decision win, defending his title for the first time. While UFC President Dana White recently stated that when Bisping is ready to return to the Octagon, he will be defending his title against Yoel Romero, recently released odds indicate the Bisping is the most likely opponent for former UFC welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre in his highly anticipated return fight.

Michael Bisping on GSP fight: I think it's a bad idea for Georges St-Pierre
Tom Taylor - February 22, 2017
UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping has generated some controversy over the last few weeks, as he’s been flirting with the idea of a superfight with Georges St-Pierre, and simultaneously showing disinterest in a fight with top middleweight contender Yoel Romero. According to the British champion, however, he’d simply be foolish not to accept a fight with St-Pierre if it was offered to him.

Manager: Michael Bisping is "absolutely ducking Yoel Romero right now"
Tom Taylor - February 22, 2017
Back in November, streaking Cuban contender Yoel Romero knocked out former middleweight champion Chris Weidman with a third-round flying knee, earning himself a shot at the current middleweight champ Michael Bisping in the process. Regrettably, however, Romero’s title shot still hasn’t been booked, and there seems to be increasing reason for him to worry it won’t happen, as Bisping flirts with the idea of super fights with Georges St-Pierre and Tyron Woodley.

Firas Zahabi eyes Conor McGregor, Michael Bisping for Georges St-Pierre's return
Tom Taylor - February 21, 2017
Last week, we learned that after months of rumors, reports, negotiations and stalemates, The UFC and Georges St-Pierre had agreed on the terms for a new contract. Given that St-Pierre is widely considered the best welterweight of all time – and one of the best fighters ever, period – this was an undeniably exciting development. Now that we know St-Pierre will actually be returning to the Octagon, the next big question is who he’ll fight upon his return. Though there are plenty of interesting options for him inside the welterweight division he once ruled, his coach Firas Zahabi is most intrigued by fights with UFC middleweight champ Michael Bisping, and lightweight champ Conor McGregor.
