VIDEO | Michael Bisping reacts to his first-round knockout loss to Kelvin Gastelum
Michael Bisping suffered his second stoppage loss in the past three weeks earlier today at UFC Fight Night 122 in Shanghai, China.
Gastelum was able to catch Bisping with a massive left hand that sent “The Count” crashing to the canvas. From there, Kelvin would unleash some brutal ground and pound which forced the referee to step in and call an end to the fight.
Here is what Michael Bisping had to say following today’s disappointing loss to Gastelum.
“Kelvin’s a great guy, but unfortunately, it’s going to take a bigger pile of (expletive) than him to get rid of me.”
The former middleweight champion of the world continued:
“I just want to say congratulations to Kelvin Gastelum. Job well done tonight. Thank you all for being here. I was enjoying myself. He caught me with a good shot. God bless Kelvin. He’s young. I’ve been doing this for a long time, man. I’m getting old. God bless you all for being here. Thank you.”
Bisping had taken the fight with Gastelum on very short-notice, this after Kelvin’s original opponent Anderson Silva was forced off the card due to a potential anti-doping violation from USADA.
However, not everyone agreed with the decision. Recently retired ONE Champion welterweight kingpin Ben Askren went off on the UFC for allowing “The Count” to make such a quick turnaround.
Michael Bisping is expected to make his final octagon appearance when the UFC returns to London this Spring.
