If He Beats CM Punk, Mickey Gall Says He’ll Call Out Another Fighter
This Saturday, on the main card of UFC 203, WWE import CM Punk will take his first steps into the perilous world of MMA. He’ll do so opposite 24-year-old prospect Mickey Gall, who was awarded the opportunity on the basis of a CM Punk callout at a regional MMA show.
Until Punk signed with the UFC, he had no real martial arts experience. Gall, meanwhile, has a long history in the martial arts, ranging from success on the grappling circuit, to a perfect amateur MMA record. Given this, the young fighter is expected to blow through the pro wrestler when the cage door closes on Saturday night.
Of course, if Gall wins, he’ll find himself at a bit of an interesting juncture. Though he is far more experienced than Punk, he himself is just 2-0 as an amateur mixed martial artist – still incredibly green, to say the least. Given his experience, it’s hard to imagine a logical next-step for him in the shark-ridden waters of the UFC welterweight division.
Well, as it turns out, Gall has done a bit of preplanning to prepare for this possibility. According to Ariel Helwani, the young fighter has plans to call out one fighter in particular, should he beat Punk this Saturday.
Gall says he has name to call out after he wins. "It got me to the dance, so I'll keep dancing with that."

So, who does Gall have his sights set on post-Punk? Some of Helwani’s Twitter followers have some interesting ideas. One such idea was Conor McGregor training partner, Artem Lobov.
Though Lobov is currently fighting at featherweight, he’s beefed welterweights before, so his moving up a few weight classes to fight Gall is not out of the question. And while he’s far more experienced than Gall with a sizable record of 12-12, he’d also surrender a significant size advantage to Gall, so this prospective fight could actually be somewhat competitive.
Another fan suggestion was popular, 20-year-old prospect “Super” Sage Northcutt.
Though Northcutt’s last fight was contested at lightweight, he’s competed in the welterweight division before, so this fight makes sense from a logistical standpoint. And because Northcutt is also relatively inexperienced, it makes sense from a competitive vantage point too.
So, who do you think Gall will call out if he beats CM Punk on Saturday night? Sound off, PENN nation!
