Gall vs. Northcutt Won’t be Happening at UFC 205

By Tom Taylor - September 13, 2016

Moments after his destruction of WWE star CM Punk at UFC 203, welterweight prospect Mickey Gall picked up the mic to lay the ground-work for the fight he wants next: a showdown with fellow prospect Sage Northcutt, who was last seen at UFC 200, when he decisioned Enrique Marin.

“I’ve got someone I want next,” Gall told UFC commentator Joe Rogan inside the Octagon. “[It’s] the fight everyone wants to see. I want “Super” Sage Northcutt. I think that boy’s corny and I want to punch the spikes out of his hair.”

“We’re Dana White’s Lookin’ For a Fight young guns, let us bang out. They say guys like us might get protection… f**k that, I want war!”

This in-cage was all it took to get the wheels in motion. Shortly after UFC 203, Chamatkar Sandhu of MMAJunkie.com confirmed that Dana White had been approached by Northcutt’s team, and that they were happy to fulfill Gall’s wish.

The question then became: where and when does the fight happen?

Well, given that the UFC is on the hunt for big fights for UFC 205, which will emanate from Madison Square Garden on November 12, it seemed like Gall and Northcutt could be in for a trip to New York City. Apparently, however, this is out of the question.

According to Jonathan Shrager (via FloCombat) Northcutt’s father has ruled this possibility out, explaining that his son has been kept out of training by a staph infection and therefore won’t be ready in time for November 12.

So, it appears we’ll have to wait a little while for the already anticipated Gall vs. Northcutt bout that has recently been generating headlines. Hopefully neither prospect is kept on the kept on the bench for too long.

When do you think Gall and Northcutt will get at it, and when they do, who do you think will come out on top? Sound off, PENN nation!
