Modestas Bukauskas is back in the UFC. Bukauskas made his debut in 2020 on Fight Island and scored a first-round TKO win over Andreas Michailidis. However, he then lost his next three fights – losing by TKO to Jimmy Crute, dropping a controversial decision to Michal Oleksiejczuk, and losing by TKO to Khalil Rountree.

Light heavyweight fighter Modestas Bukauskas promised that he will fight in the UFC again after being released, saying that “I’ll be back.” Bukauskas was released by the UFC this week after going 1-3 in the promotion through his first four fights with the company. Following his latest loss, a TKO defeat to Khalil Rountree Jr. where he saw his knee get damaged, the UFC decided to cut Bukauskas from its roster. Taking to his social media to react to the news, Bukauskas sent a message to UFC matchmakers Sean Shelby and Mick Maynard that he will work hard and be back one day.

Former Cage Warriors champion Modestas Bukauskas has been released by the promotion, just weeks after suffering a nasty knee injury. Bukauskas came into the UFC with a great deal of momentum and an 11-2 record but within the span of just one year, that’s dropped to 11-5 after defeats to Jimmy Crute, Michał Oleksiejczuk and Khalil Rountree Jr.

UFC light heavyweight Modestas Bukauskas provided a positive health update following the recent knee injury he suffered inside the Octagon. Bukauskas was the victim of one of the most brutal side kicks that we have ever seen in MMA after Khalil Rountree Jr. finished him with an oblique kick. It was initially feared that Bukauskas could have broken his leg, but ultimately it was determined that it was a knee injury. Still, it was a tough thing to watch, and for Bukauskas, he know that he will now be on the sidelines for at least several months recovering from the devastating injury. However, he is optimistic that he will be able to return and make a spectacular comeback.

UFC light heavyweight Modestas Bukauskas says he broke his leg following a brutal oblique kick from Khalil Rountree at UFC Vegas 36. Rountree’s back was up against the wall heading into this fight after losing his last two outings, and he made good on that with one of the best performances of his UFC career. For the first round of the fight, Rountree was constantly beating Bukauskas to the punch the whole time, and then in the second round, he began lighting up his opponent with low kicks. At the 2:30 mark of the second round, Rountree landed an absolutely brutal oblique kick that knocked Bukauskas to the floor and forced referee Herb Dean to stop the fight.

Modestas Bukauskas was eagerly anticipating his next fight after coming up short last time out. Back on Fight Island in October, Bukauskas suffered a first-round TKO loss to Jimmy Crute. In just his second UFC fight, he fought a very tough and dangerous Crute who is now in the rankings and could be in the top-10 after his next fight. Although the loss was disappointing for Bukauskas, he says it helped him grow as he hired a sports psychologist and started to focus more on the strategy for his fights.
