Last year, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson told Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour that he was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid, which causes him to gain weight at a more rapid pace.
With spending nearly his entire career fighting at light heavyweight, Jackson said that going back to 205 may only be possible if he changes his lifestyle and diet. Even with dieting, Jackson told Helwani that he will likely be on medication for the hypothyroidism condition for the rest of his life.
The former UFC light heavyweight champion and Bellator light heavyweight tournament champion last fought at the 205-pound light heavyweight limit back in May of 2014 where he beat Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal in the Bellator tournament final. Since then, Jackson has been steadily going up in weight over his last four fights but has found success with winning his last five fights.
Here, we take a look at Rampage as he weighed in over his last few competitions.
For the May 17, 2014, bout against Lawal at Bellator 120, Rampage weighed in at 205.9 pounds and was the last time Jackson fought at light heavyweight. Jackson won by unanimous decision.
Rampage then made his way back to the UFC for one fight where he ended up fighting Fabio Maldonado at UFC 186 on April 25, 2015. The fight was a catch weight bout at 215 pounds where Rampage stepped on the scale at 216 with the one pound allowance. Rampage ended up beating Maldonado by unanimous decision.
On June 24, 2016, Rampage made his way back to Bellator after some contractual disputes and fought Satoshi Ishii in a heavyweight bout at Bellator 157 – Dynamite 2. Rampage stepped on the scales and weighed in at 224.9 pounds. Rampage ended up getting his hand raised winning a judges split decision.
For his rematch against Lawal that takes place on Friday at Bellator 175, Rampage weighed in a 253 pounds while Lawal stepped on the scales at 212 pounds.
